Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the state of Polish regional statistics, taking into account the guidelines contained in the EUROSTAT and the latest practices of the Central Statistical Office. The object of our attention are the sources of information, with particular emphasis on administrative records and the estimation for small areas. Problems and challenges of Polish regional statistics presented in the form of a SWOT analysis. We find a significant improvement in the methodology and sources of information supply in recent years. Active participation by a large number of Polish statisticians in meetings of small area estimation gives hope for further improvement in the regional statistics in Poland.
