Summary/Abstract: The cultural shift, which has been noted and extensively described over the last few decades, can also be observed in translation studies, mainly, however, in literary translation. However, the present paper documents and discusses the cultural dimension as evidenced in translations of non-literary texts related to culture, the press, religion, research, diplomacy, film studies, and travel books. Special attention is devoted to the ways of construing those translations (which is the translator’s task), as well as the quality of their reception. To this end, the concepts of a linguistic worldview and of precedential texts come in useful, as their implementation enables the author of this article to reveal the cultural dimension in translations of functional texts. The corpus for this analysis has been drawn from the experience of editing “Przekład – Język – Kultura” (UMCS Press, 2002-2018).
