Summary/Abstract: Essentially there are two types of documentary fi lms in terms of the relation between time and story. One of them, including situational documentaries and those based on observation handles the story in present time, in front of the camera. The other type recalls a story or stories that happened in the past. The power of Péter Kerekes’s (Hungarian fi lm director from Kosice, Slovakia) directorial method resides in correlating the presently provoked action to the story in the past, which raises strong feelings in the viewer.
