THE NAMES OF ATHLETES IN THE SPOKEN LANGUAGE OF SPORTS COMMENTATORS. ON THE MATERIAL OF RUSSIAN AND POLISH LANGUAGES

Summary/Abstract: The present article is the second part (for the First Part see Studia Rossica Posnaniensia 1979, no 13) of a longer study devoted to the spoken language of Soviet and Polish sports commentators. As a research material the author uses his own recordings (made on a tape-recorder) of sports comments in Polish and Russian. The recordings made it possible for the author to collect a great factual material. After deciphering the tapes the author possessed 202 pages of typescript of Russian commentary and 235 pages of typescript of Polish commentary. The article is devoted to the names of athletes in the field of sports lexis in the spoken language of sports commentators with taking into consideration its all-language meanings.
