Summary/Abstract: Digitizing is a current term that I would like to look at, from the perspective of foreign language teaching, especially because it has developed significantly from traditional to modern forms of teaching. My paper deals with the use of films in German teaching activities and the possibilities that this medium offers in the foreign language teaching. The film is considered an authentic source for conveying language and culture, and at the same time it is a means of expression that shapes our everyday life. Since the most popular leisure activity among children and young people is watching television or films online, the film becomes an audiovisual medium that is comparatively close to real communication situations. The film addresses several channels of perception at the same time and the learners acquire different skills. In the learning process, authentic language and intercultural aspects are linked with images, which greatly increases the motivation for learning. Films can not only have a motivating effect, but they also convey meaning and content, and can be exercise-oriented and illustrative. Therefore I would like to deal with the following questions: “Which films can be used in the classroom?” “How is emotional learning promoted?”, “How does «the fifth skill» work?”
