Summary/Abstract: Travelling has always been an endless inspiration for the arts, and especially for the art of moving images. This text analyses the film Whose song is this? by Adela Peeva, a work of art, based on its director’s long investigative journey through the Balkans. The film easily and unobtrusively takes the audiences directly into the whirlpool of passions bubbling between the traditionally divided Balkan nations. At first glance, the film’s story is about the origin of a popular folk song’s melody. However, it takes an entirely different direction, deepening and revealing complex and tense relationships on the Balkans.
