Summary/Abstract: One of the keys to Asterix’s international success lies in the vocation of the two heroes as travelers, who discover many foreign peoples but also their Gallic neighbors. Their adventures make appear many national and international stereotypes, which constitute an inexhaustible source of humor through various processes, such as simplification, exaggeration, repetition, etc. These identity stereotypes relate to foreigners as well as to French people and are exploited at the linguistic level (puns, défigements, names of characters, etc.) as at the visual level (caricatures of French and French-speaking personalities, clothes, gestures, etc.).
