Summary/Abstract: Historically, there is a consensus about the benefits of fracture settling during the post-operative period, which significantly improves both fixation strength and fracture healing processes. On the other hand, though rarely, a significant shortening of the femoral neck may be registered, which can sometimes result in reduced muscular force of the abductor muscles and the need for wearing corrective shoes. The shortening of the femoral neck following fracture osteosynthesis is not considered as a complication, but it can cause a discomfort when it exceeds 1 cm.
