Summary/Abstract: The study highlights the activity of the Academician Mihai Băcescu M.D. in his attribute of close team working with the Romanian sailors and the support of his oceanography activities by the ships and specialists of the Romanian Military and Commercial Navy. Also, here is remembered the participation of the famous researcher, in the 80s, at the scientific conferences hosted by the Romanian Navy Museum, one among the themes being “Collaborations between biologists and the specialists of the Romanian Navy in the field of natural sciences and foremost on oceanographic research”. The Academician Mihai Băcescu was interested by the contributions of some navy officers in this field, most preoccupied by the book ”Voyages at sea” written by captain Nicolae Ionescu Johnson and the underwater investigations on the continental plateau of the Black Sea, and also by the works of captain Constantin Scarlat, the pioneer of the of Romanian underwater archeology and founder of the submarine diving in Romania. Finally, the author underlines the contribution of Academician Mihai Băcescu M.D. in the transformation of the Natural Sciences Museum in Fălticeni, into “The Museum of Waters”, an unique institution in Europe, which presents in a original manner, modern and attractive, the world of the Romanian researchers Emil Racoviță, Grigore Antipa, Paul Bujor and Ion Borcea, with an accent on the contributions of the Romanian science in the domain of the hydrobiology.
