Summary/Abstract: In the War of National Reunification, the Romanian Navy took an active and continuous part in the operations undertaken at Sea and on the Danube. It organized and defended the river and maritime sectors and cooperated with the army in the operations at Turtucaia and Dobruja, covering the flanks of the retreating armies, preserving the Danube's communication and saving the entire national floating park. Defending the back of the front and the line of the Lower Danube, it gave the possibility of supplying the Moldovia army seized by the Russian armies and contributes largely to the preparation of the victorious offensive from Mărăşti and Mărăşeşti. These measures mainly came back to the Danube Squadron, a tactical unit under the orders of the Operations Fleet.
