SOME NOTES ON THE TOPONYMS CASSANDREA AND ARTEMISION

Summary/Abstract: Two toponyms from the passage of Procopius’ Buildings, Kassandreia and Artemision were considered. The article followed the history of the city of Kassandreia (in former times called Potidaea) with particular emphasis on the period of Late Antiquity. The problem of identification of another, previously unknown fortress named Artemision was also reviewed, with analysis of the etymology of its name connected with the theonym comparatively.
