Summary/Abstract: Today, sustainability has a widespread effect in fashion as in many other areas. It is possible to claim that textile and fashion industry is related directly to sustainability for employing many negative applications and approaches regarding environment, economy and social issues other than fashion being affected by seasonal circumstances and a living concept. This situation leads to the emergence of different design strategies for sustainable fashion. In addition to general sustainable design approaches, there are also sustainable design strategies developed by focusing on fashion design. Rebirth is a fairly new approach to sustainable fashion design practice. The aim of this study is to define rebirth, which is a new approach in sustainable fashion design, to reveal its concept of design and to examine its relationship with sustainability. Re-birth aims to ensure that the original stock products that have been put on the market and not sold during the season are redesigned and demanded by the consumer. In re-birth, which has a five-level design strategy, the changes made on the products increase from level 1 to level 5. Very little change in early-level applications makes it possible to spend less labor and energy. In this respect, it is possible to say that re-birth is more advantageous compared to other design strategies in terms of textile waste. On the other hand, the fact that re-birth designs include original and previously unused products makes it possible for them to appeal to the consumer audience who stay away from second-hand clothes. The fact that only clothing products are redesigned in the rebirth process also prevents the use of materials that are converted from other textile products and are not suitable for clothing comfort. This situation is a factor that positively affects the consumer choice. It is thought that re-birth is a sustainable design strategy that contributes to the profits of brands in terms of utilizing their surplus products.
