Colloquial Expression from the Semantic Field of Automotive: Convergences and Divergences between Spanish and Romanian

Summary/Abstract: Our study aims to highlight the similarities and differences of the Spanish colloquial expressions, which contain terms of the automotive domain, in contrast with Romanian. We are interested in investigating to what extent there are translations which have, on the one hand, perfect or partial equivalences and, on the other hand, evident differences between this type of expressions in Spanish and Romanian. An example of an expression that has a perfect equivalent is conducir como un loco, that is, driving like a madman. An expression that does not have a perfect translation into Romanian is en el coche de San Francisco, whose meaning is by foot.
