The value of crops pollination in Poland

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is the indication of the role of beekeeping as part of agriculture which is responsible for crops pollination. The bees pollination value was analyzed. Using the value point of view the most important role of bees is plant pollination. The value of pollination is a lot of times higher than the value of bee products. The economic valuation of plant pollination may be estimated by using the market prices method, cost-based methods or production function approaches. The economic value of crops pollination in the world was estimated at 153 billion euro in 2005. The value of main crops pollination in Poland was estimated from over 0.6 to 1.2 billion Polish zloty in 2008.
