Average salary and the situationon the labour market − case of Łódź Voivodeship

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article, having a diagnostic character, is to indicate the degree, direction and nature of the relationship between the average gross salary and the size of demand and supply of labour in Łódź Voivodeship and confront with economic theories. Values that are significant contributors to salaries include: the situation on the labour market, output, and trends in the development of the economies on the international arena. Macroeconomic aspects have a significant impact on the growth of salaries in the national economy. First, the market constitutes an objective economic reality and verificationd can lead to a reduction in the level of salaries in terms of rising unemployment and economic downturn. On the other hand, meeting union demands, can administratively affect the growth of salaries. This may be due to the fact of exerting stronger pressure on payroll administration, rather than to surrender to the free market salary verification.
