Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the problem of situation changes on the labor market triggered by changes of the economic situation, demography situation and professional activity of population. The analysis included ten largest countries of the European Union according to population, basing on the data for years 2007-2011, published by Eurostat. In most of the analyzed countries it was possible to observe adjustments of labor market to the economic situation which consisted in the employment increase and unemployment fall during the economic improvement (and vice versa). Statistical data show that economic crisis in the European Union co-exists with the increase in 15 to 64 years old population and increases in economically active population, which causes the increase in the level of unemployment.
