Summary/Abstract: The results of a survey conducted among social workers and student pedagogues on the social service “foster family”, awe as foster parents’ problems when caring for children with special educational needs are presented in this paper. There are no ready-made formulas for adequate and advanced social care for these children. The study focuses on the implementation of foster care preparation and conditions, considered as an alternative with a high coefficient of convenience for children with special needs. Several main problems of the interaction “foster parents – children” are outlined, as well as options for solutions.
