Summary/Abstract: In a world of technology, where scientific discoveries and innovations have influenced every century (whether we are talking about the appearance of electricity, combustion engines, the Internet or cryptocurrency), personal data circulates uninterruptedly throughout the world in a form that is as transparent as possible or, on the contrary, in an encrypted manner. Blockchain technology has many advantages mainly linked to transparency and irreversibility, but at the same time raises doubts as to its compatibility with the General data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The Article analyses the potential risks associated with this innovative technology by reference to the GDPR principles and the rights of data subjects, with the objective of providing arguments to show that the blockchain and GDPR can be compatible.
