Summary/Abstract: The monograph addresses selected social, economic and environmental aspects of the concept of sustainable development in the TFL sector. It is part of the trend of considering how to satisfy the needs of the present generation in such a way as not to limit the possibilities of satisfying those needs by future generations. The publication consists of nine chapters and a supplement. The individual chapters present solutions aimed at sustainable development initiated and put into practice by specific companies related to the TSL industry, as well as public institutions. There are also cross-sectional analyses of the entire TFL sector. The research results presented by the individual authors allow for the conclusion that due to the strategic importance of the TFL sector in the economy, there is an urgent need to involve decision-makers from this sector in initiatives aimed at sustainable development. However, the transformation of TFL sector entities towards sustainability is impossible without the appropriate multidimensional involvement of their employees in this process. Therefore, what follows from the presented considerations, apart from the implementation of internal pro-environmental regulations or technical and technological solutions, it becomes important to pay attention to the appropriate management of human capital in individual organisations from the TFL sector.

- Summary/Abstract:Logistics centres occupy an important place in the structure of economic actors and the economy as a whole. Their managers are currently facing the challenge of greening the economy. Therefore, in addition to an overview of the key directions and factors influencing the implementation of sustainable development in business practice, this aspect is presented on the example of a selected logistics centre. - Summary/Abstract:Nowadays one can observe a number of changes in organizations and their environment. Human resource management is influenced by them. These changes also affect organizations in the logistics industry. Therefore, the purpose of the article is to present outstanding human resource management practices that can become an inspiration. Thus, the consideration focuses on practical human resource management. - Summary/Abstract:The TFL industry's companies are slowly getting involved in environmental activities. Their job offers should refer to green competences. On the example of 207 job offers for a driver and a warehouseman posted on Internet portals, the type of sought-after employee competences was traced. It was noted that companies are not yet ready to consider pro-environmental activities as an element of competitive advantage, as their job offers usually did not refer to green competences.

- Summary/Abstract:Due to the dynamic development of TFL services and resulting from competition it is necessary in enterprises to take care of the aspect of acquiring knowledge necessary to perform tasks by employees. In theory and practice, the best ways of gathering knowledge are still searched for, which is hidden in nature and is the result of information processing and experience gathering by qualified company staff. In order to fill this gap, the authors rely on the analysis of available tools and their potential application possibilities in enterprises from the TFL industry. The conducted analysis shows that e-learning cannot be treated only as an asynchronous tool for transferring knowledge.

- Summary/Abstract:The subject of the chapter concerns the work motivation of employees based on the concept of total rewards. The aim of the research was to find out the opinions of logistics students on the importance of the different types of motivators for the level of work motivation of employees in the TFL industry. The results indicate that the most important are salary motivators and some intangible motivators (good atmosphere at work, stable workplace, opportunity for career advancement) and non-salary motivators (comfortable workplace, trainings, modern work tools). The results of the study can contribute to the issue of building employee motivation based on the total rewards system in the context of the challenges of sustainable human resource management.

- Summary/Abstract:This chapter discusses the application of the psychological contract concept in the implementation of HR policy of logistics companies. Then the results of a survey on the mechanisms of HR policy taking into account the implementation of psychological contracts in logistics enterprises are presented. The results clearly indicate that employees from the TFL sector have strong expectations from their employer regarding the quality of communication, complain about uneven workload, and do not feel sufficient care and concern from their supervisor. Therefore, the conclusions made can be helpful in developing the main principles of creating a HR policy based on psychological contract.

- Summary/Abstract:The aim of the article is to present the basic issues related to the implementation of the concept of corporate social responsibility in the enterprise (concept, dimensions, goals, levels, benefits and threats). In its further part, examples of the implementation of the idea of corporate social responsibility in companies from the logistics, transport and shipping industries are presented. In the companies under discussion, the vast majority of activities in the field of social responsibility relate to the environment, shaping appropriate relations with employees and consumers, or their social involvement. The chapter is based on the literature on the subject in this field, as well as information from the presented companies from the TFL industry.

- Summary/Abstract:The aim of the publication is to present public procurement as an area of procurement logistics. The research objective was to evaluate completed procurement procedures on the example of selected offices. A case study, analytical methods, inference methods, source document research methods and a literature review were used as research methods. The analysis carried out highlighted the complexity of the public procurement process in the offices. In addition, the analysis showed that in some tenders only single economic entities participated and indicated the existence of a significant discrepancy in the prices of supplies and services offered by companies.

- Summary/Abstract:The aim of the study is to analyze the problem and describe the available solutions for securing food for city residents in the face of the challenges of developing metropolises. Delivering food, just like the delivery of other items to cities, is currently very difficult. The context for the considerations is city management, in particular city logistics, because it proposes solutions regarding infrastructure barriers, transport congestion or urban sprawl. One of the ways to eliminate them is the production of food in cities, which is treated as a sustainable solution. The study is interdisciplinary and was written on the basis of literature from disciplines such as city management, urban logistics, and urban agriculture.
