- Summary/Abstract:The paper deals with the place and role of Hamza Humo’s literary work in the cultural-poetic contexts of Bosniak and Bosnian-Herzegovinian literature between the two world wars. Humo’s literary work is approached from a slightly different, wider cultural perspective apart from the traditional literary history, which illuminates Humo’s literary work in a different way too. In this regard, it is apparent that, as a whole, the literary work of Hamza Humo is not exclusively related to the poetics of expressionism nor does it fully realize all the elements of expressionist poetics, not even those elements which characterize the phenomenon of expressionism in other South Slavic literatures. The primary context of Humo’s literary creation is a more specific context of avant-gardism, neoisms and poetic alliances of the interwar period in Bosniak as well as Bosnian-Herzegovinian literature in general, but there are also other important elements in Humo’s literary creation which have not been more significantly noticed in the earlier understandings of the author’s literary work. These are, first of all, very visible elements of, in Bosniak literary history, more specific poetics of post-revival traditionalism, on one hand, and on the other hand, and by no means negligible, elements that may somehow be linked to the so-called social literature.

- Keywords:lyrical novel; mythicization of time and space; ballad and sevdalinka in the structure of the novel; mythical and Christian worldview;
- Summary/Abstract:Temporal and spacial metaphors constitute the composition of the novel Grozdana’s Giggle. The change of seasons is depicted in a mythical language as an event which is always actualized as a return to illo tempore. Emotional states of the characters are compared to the images of nature, and frequent comparisons can be considered a leitmotif which gives dynamics to the novel’s chapters and follows the change of seasons. In contrast to the rural nature, the inn appears as an inner space where lyrical and epic poems are sung and collective memory is renewed. Rural worldview intertwines with the mythical and the Christian layer. The mythical story about lovers Grozdana and Grozdan is parallel to the passionate meetings of the narrator Ozren and the widow Ivanka. Mythical lovers appear both as part of the mythical narrative and in the consciousness of the characters. The Christian worldview replaces the mythical one after the tragic death of the maiden Grlica. The plot ends in the autumn when summer, people and passions die, and so does the myth – alive only in the days of bliss.

- Page Range:249-262
- No. of Pages:14
- Keywords:layering; expressives; hypocoristic; diminutives; augmentatives; pejoratives; interjections and idioms;
- Summary/Abstract:This paper focuses on expressives as units of a lexical-semantic analysis and the expressiveness as a universal category. Even though the expressive lexicon form a separate layer, it is possible to allocate new layers within it, indicating the layering of lexicon in the literary works of Hamza Humo and the basis of expressiveness as a category. By analyzing the layers of expressives, the aim is to point out the, not so small, number of lexemes characterized as units of second level nominations. Taking into consideration the expressive excerptions from five novels written by Hamza Humo: Izdanak, Džigit, Babanova beda, Dobri and Deda Rnjez, the attention is set on the layers of hypocoristic and diminutives, augmentatives and pejorative (derogatory) terms, provided that noun and verb lexemes are distinguished within these layers, all this creating new layers. Subsequently, the layer of interjections is clarified as particularly important because it possesses emotional meaning, which represents a state of mind or mood. At the same time, the analysis illustrates that the expressive lexicon contains emotionality, which proves that expressiveness as a category is a broader concept than emotionality. In conclusion, the expressive lexemes as single-elements of the language system are on one side, while the multi-expressive units are on the other, specified in idioms, which indicates that this paper points to another layer of expressives.

- Keywords:expressionism; poetry; Hamza Humo; epithet; semantem; semantostylem;
- Summary/Abstract:Depending on the poetic description of poetry, the particulars it refers to, or in what way we as a reader experience an imaginary, potential element of this image, they can be: visual, acoustic, tactile, tasteful and olfactive images . Successful poetic images are generated by a description that is realized by a special selection of “decorative adjectives” or epithets. Expressionistic sounds, colors and images are present in this poetry. Most often these are descriptions of Herzegovinian landscapes pervaded by the poet’s inner experience or the most personal intimate feelings, etc. The aim of the paper is to explain the linguistic role of “decorative adjectives”, that is, epithets on the basis of which the poet builds poetic images, as well as their expressive but impressive meaning poetry. This paper will give general information on Expressionism and Hamzi Humi as one of the most significant representatives of expressionist lyrical literature in BH literature. After the basic information about the author and the literary line, theoretical definitions of the epithets will be discussed with regard to the subject analysis. The corpus on which the analysis was made relates to a large number of selected Huma songs from different cycles – Old Motives, Herzegovina Landscapes, City of rhyme and rhythms, Sounds in the heart, Inner life.
