Summary/Abstract: The presented theoretical - empirical study is devoted to selected questions of technical education in secondary schools. Its use is wider reaching into basic and higher technical education. The first part is dedicated to defining and structuring techniques of engineering and technical education system at primary and secondary schools. In another part of the attention is focused on teaching technical subjects in the system of pedagogical sciences. Following discussion of the educational system of vocational technical courses and research in the field of technical subjects. The largest part is devoted to the issues of educational objectives, content, teaching and technology teaching technical subjects in terms of theoretical, practical - methodological and empirical. Selected relevant theory is complemented with application examples of teaching technical subjects. The last part presents a research report in the area of opportunities for pupils to active involvement in teaching technical subjects in secondary schools. The appendixes is a sample profile of a graduate technical field demonstration of the curriculum, sample curricula, research tool and a list of schools where the research was done.
