Summary/Abstract: In this contribution we will be focusing on the position of Musical Sociology in Musical Pedagogy and Education. Dynamic development of society, changes in cultural and value orientation of pupils influenced music education at all levels of the general and vocational education. The musical environment of the family, schools, the external environment and the community, amateur and professional music offer underlies the increasing need of solving musical and sociological issues. The author presents the content of the subject Musical Sociology on Master´s degree program of Teaching Musical Arts at Prešov University in Prešov and reflects on sociological surveys conducted by students of this university.
