Summary/Abstract: Works of Ziemowit Szczerek filled an important gap in the Polish discourses about Slavicness and Central Europe, showing their critical, rather negative image. His reportages (though genealogical classification would be ambiguous in this case) are both polemic and a reference to the so-called “Polish school of reportage”, but they are also heavily inspired by the American New Journalism and the “gonzo journalism” of Hunter S. Thompson. In my article I would like to reflect on the kind of literary genres that Szczerek uses, why his diagnosis are innovative and controversial, and analyse his book entitled Przyjdzie Mordor i nas zje, czyli tajna historia Słowian.
