Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on the learning styles of high school students. The aim of the study is to examine which learning styles do high school students use; to determine whether gender plays a role in students’ self-assessment and whether there is a connection between students’ academic achievements and their preferred learning styles. The research was conducted in high schools in Tuzla Canton, Zenica-Doboj Canton, Central Bosnia Canton, and Sarajevo Canton. The samples of the study consisted of 1118 third-grade high school students. A learning style inventory was used for the purpose of this research, and it was used for students’ self-assessment of their learning styles. The results show that students use all 281four learning styles but the dominant one is the analytical learning style. The results also show that students with better academic achievements use a combination of different learning styles and that girls use different learning styles more often than boys. The obtained results may help high school teachers choose the right teaching style which will correspond to the students' learning styles.
