STUDENTS' SELF-EVALUATION ABOUT FEAR OF ASSESSMENT

Summary/Abstract: Assessment is a very stressful situation for students, and bad grades are the ones which mostly cause the students' fear of assessment. Considering that fear leaves consequences to psychological development of students, we wanted to investigate how much it is present in primary schools. 749The aim of this paper is to investigate self-evaluation of students about their fear of school assessment and the influence of different variables on the students' fear.1050 students of fourth and fifth grade from all primary schools in Central-Bosnia canton participated in the investigation/research. The sample or results are equal according to gender and age of students. We used the questionaire „Self-evaluation of assessment's fear“, SPSOO Scaler for students (Suzic, 2005, str. 909) to measure the presence of students's fear of assessment. The instrument uses a Likert- type scale which consists of five levels of agreement or disagrement (possible answers) and students could do the self-evaluation of their fear of school assessment.The results showed that according to the students' self-evalution there is a fear from assessment but not so much presented as it tought before. The fear is much presented with students (boys and girls) of fifth grade, and school achievement or final grades are important reason for that fear.The results of the research indicates the conclusion that the fear of assessment is presented at low level which is probably the result of democratization of teaching process and better interaction between teaching factors. However, for more deeply investigation of this problem several research has to be done.
