Summary/Abstract: We live in a global world; therefore, the influence (mostly English) is present in every field of life, e.g. sports, banking, commerce, media, and tourism. The question is: What is the status of the English words in the Hungarian language? Are they loanwords for the moment or only for restricted group of people (e.g. students)? My dissertation deals with a terminology analysis and the behaviour of English words used in the Hungarian tourists’ terminology and contains a questionnaire (filled out by students) concerning the use of words and expressions of English origin (collected from different newspapers and magazines) in the Hungarian language of tourist industry.
