Summary/Abstract: This study examines the role of the European Court of Human Rights as a developer of Bulgarian human rights law incl. legislation of criminal substantive and procedural law. The author indicates some specific cases of disagreement between the court instructions and the normative changes in Bulgarian criminal proceedings. Problematic areas in the Bulgarian legislation related to the protection of fundamental human rights from the European Convention on Human Rights have been identified.
