Summary/Abstract: The economic terms in the form of metaphors have become quite a numerous and diversified representation compared to other terminological units, which has been proved by my research on terms in Russian economic texts. This leads to a need to identify and define the research principles which enable to systematize the collected material, to indicate the correlation between metaphor, metonymy and phrasemes in relation to terms, to detect and explain differences in presenting the meanings of the terms, their interpretation and new functions in non-professional contexts. Furthermore, the comparative approach will allow to determine the tendencies (as well as differences and similarities) in borrowing and adapting new terms from the source language (English) into host languages (Russian and Polish).
