Summary/Abstract: Is the „playing“ mother disappearing? What are the consequences for early childhood development when, for various reasons, the mother is unable to play with her little child? What are these unique features in maternal play that stabilize the child's psychophysical development and can we „detect“ deficits in early mother-infant relationships. In this text, we will present a summary of a clinical experience from a study of 27 children aged 10-36 months with problems in psychophysical development and 8 cases from psychotherapeutic counselling recommended by a paediatric neurologist. Through the collected clinical material, we will illustrate Donald Winnicott's concept of the„good enough mother“ and Jacques Lacan's „maternal Other“.
