Summary/Abstract: The study is based on the most frequently used monolingual and bilingual dictionaries in Bulgaria. It is applies onomasiological and semasiological approaches to the study of the correspondences of Bulgarian and English idiomatic expressions. For the sake of the comprehensiveness of the study of the aforementioned semantic field in English and Bulgarian the analysis here is based both upon the form and structural components of the idiomatic expressions and their content (semantic volume, the nature of the semantic structure and the relationship between them).
