Summary/Abstract: The spread of Islam, parallel to the spread of the Ottoman Empire, and the role of Sufis, that is, the dervishes, in that process, has been for a longer time an issue researched by the historians, Sufi theoreticians, sociologists,etc. Their conclusion was that their role was impressive indeed, both related to the question of first contacts and introducing the local population with Islam, and also related to later period, when Islam was already adopted and had a large number of adherents in a certain environment.
