Summary/Abstract: The history of the economic development of the communities has been correlatedwith the energy consumption and the emissions of GHG; therefore, it requireseffi ciency, low environmental impact, and less cost, which are characteristics refl ectedin renewable energies as contribution to sustainable development. Nevertheless, thisinformation requires massive disclosure that allows basic sciences to explain the needfor biodiversity in agricultural production systems, to decrease the external energeticneed. In this way, this bibliographic review seeks to document the evolution of the useof energy, counting on the conceptualization of energy and energy effi ciency, in order tounderstand some local experiences on energy saving.
