Summary/Abstract: Alike other countries benefiting from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Bulgaria strives to achieve competitive production aimed at innovations and growth. In order to achieve the priorities for sustainable projects as laid out in Europe 2020 strategy there is additional utilization of financial instruments which provide additional resource to accommodate the business. Author reviews the main aspects of administering and governance of the financial instruments which support the business in a form of loans, grants, interest rates subsidies, shares and other risk mechanisms. The role of the European Investment Fund in mobilizing additional financial resources is being highlighted. The focus of the research is on the financial instruments for risk financing for the Central European countries.
