Summary/Abstract: Translating wine and its culture is certainly an exciting subject, through its complexity and the problems that it raises. The present study gathers and outlines several topics related to a lexical journey that is not only specialized, but also multidisciplinary, cultural and sometimes artistic – in a very generous sense. The author first focuses on the possibilities of rendering into another language the belonging, the qualification and the spatial identity of vineyard and of wine. She then adds considerations and examples concerning the jobs and objects related to the wine, and, last but not least, the descriptive discourse, which gives value to the previous aspects. This study is the result of a research the author set out four years ago as part of a translation practical course (2nd year students specializing in translation), but also the continuation of a research carried out within the UNESCO Chair 'Culture et Traditions du Vin’ at the Burgundy University.
