Summary/Abstract: Any significant changes in the political, economic and cultural life of society, natural disasters, especially on a global scale, are invariably reflected in the language. The coronavirus pandemic was no exception, provoking the emergence of numerous neologisms that are of undoubted scientific interest for linguists. The purpose of this article is a comparative analysis of German and Russian composites used in both official and unofficial media in the era of a pandemic. Particular attention is paid to the comparison of neologisms formed by the method of contamination
