Summary/Abstract: After it annexed Crimea in 2014, Russia began intensive militarisation of the peninsula to achieve military domination of the Black Sea Basin. This poses a growing challenge to Ukraine and NATO countries in the region. However, the lack of a common position among the Black Sea members of NATO concerning the militarisation of Crimea makes it difficult to pursue a policy of deterring Russia.
