Starting from the idea that writing is the written experience of identity beyond time and that identity is both a temporal and a spatial act, I am going to demonstrate that, with Peter Ackroyd, one’s identity becomes one’s narrative, which comes to be interpreted and understood by the reader through a process of difference between the subject of the story and his identification with that particular subject in the act of reading. I am going to refer to Peter Ackroyd’s fiction and non-fiction – Albion – and to demonstrate that literature is focused on as a signifier of national identity, the nation being an imaginary construct that depends for its existence upon imaginative literature.

International ICAO standards assume that there is national responsibility for the safety of air navigation, while demanding functional separation of regulatory from operational functions. Regulators and operators of air navigation are recognized by all services and all eligible institutions, regardless of the modes of organization and ownership structure - government authorities, the incorporated organizations (companies) and military authorities. In contrast to the ICAO, as an organ of the United Nations, the European Commission has set out the terms of separation of national authorities and providers (service providers - operatorsy) or regulatory and operational organization, by which it prejudices the corporatization and privatization. As these regulations were adopted by the European Ministerial Conference (ECAC,) they can be considered valid for the European countries which are not members of the Union. However, security as a primary function of air traffic services could be compromised by corporatisation and privatization of the system.

The article deals with the speech act of motivation in the Russian and Persian languages. The author points out that impositiveness is typical of the communicative behavior of the Russians and the Iranians and is expressed in the mentioned languages by numerous verb forms of the imperative mood. The author concludes that Russian imperative utterances differ from similar structures in the Persian language and are characterized by a higher level of categoricalness typical of certain communicative situations.

The article deals with the semantic structure (superstructure) of two media genres: the radio discussion and the TV news. There have been revealed the components of the prototypical superstructure, which characterize the genre in different languages. Workplace discrimination is a matter of increasing sensitivity both in national legislation and in Community law, currently seeking effective ways of combating it. Analyzing the statistics at national level, we will notice that a small number of complaints based on the discriminatory criteria applied to the employees at the workplace are recorded on the territory of our country. Employers currently use criteria with objective justification and implicitly proportionate to the purpose they pursue from the employee. Of course, in practice, any employer may be subject to sanctions if it breaches the principle of non-discrimination, and the National Council for Combating Discrimination currently watches any irregularities that may arise in the labour relations. Any interested person who considers him/herself discriminated at the workplace can directly address the Romanian courts, being in no way subject to NCCD notification, within three years from the moment when the deed was committed or from the moment when the person became aware of its occurrence. The most common forms of discrimination are those based on age, religious affiliation, sexual orientation or disability, which I will try to detail in this paper.

The paper centers on some problematic theses of my book Kant’s Political Legacy. Human Rights, Peace, Progress (UWP 2017). This reconsideration is occasioned partly by comments I received and partly by my own process of self-criticism. I focus on the point that commentators have mainly criticized, that is, the link I suggest between human dignity and our capacity for moral behavior, or autonomy. The first part recalls the basic features of my Kant-inspired and yet in many regards anti-Kantian account of the relation between dignity and autonomy and replies to some criticisms received from orthodox Kantians. The second part is strictly connected to the first because it deals with the reasons we have to believe that we are autonomous. While in the book I sketched Kant’s own reasons for the ‘reality of freedom,’ as he puts it, I focus now on Bojan Kovačević’s suggestion to look at characters in novels written by artistic geniuses (in particular Leo Tolstoy) to find indirect evidence in favor of autonomy. This allows me to reflect on the kind of evidence one can legitimately expect in the proof at issue. Thirdly, I reply to a classical objection, ignored in the book, that impacts with equal force Kant’s ethics and my own position. The problem concerns people with temporary or permanent impairment of rational capacities. If I let human dignity depend on our capacity for autonomous behavior, am I committed to the counterintuitive (and rather devastating) conclusion that children or people suffering from momentary or irreversible loss of rational capacity, and a fortiori of autonomy, do not have dignity and therefore do not deserve to be protected by human rights?
