Veronika Neničková examines the city from various angles in relation to teaching foreign languages to adults. She mentions the perspectives for the use of augmented reality in teaching foreign languages, and above all she offers methodologies for activities that emphasize cooperation, authenticity, effectivity, and attractiveness. This in most cases assumes the use of the Internet and other modern technologies. Her methodologies are adaptable for all languages, although some examples are oriented towards Polish. She includes social networks such as Instagram, Facebook, and Foursquare, as well as Google Street View, etc. She also advises how to find a suitable native speaker of your target language in your city, recommends how to use and create teaching videos, and offers a guide to asking questions in the street in the form of surveys or Mad Libs, as well as new approaches for assigning homework. Lastly, she calls for teachers of foreign languages to take an interest in integrating the Internet and other modern technologies into their teaching, in order to keep pace with their students.

No sooner the Spanish Civil War finished in April 1939 after it had been started in 1936 by the mutiny of the Spanish military forces it has become one of the most disturbing topics that at the same time up till now has its steady place on the Spanish literary scene. Particularly from the 90´ there is an evident growth of interest of contemporary writers in those dramatic historical events and their tragic consequences in the everyday lives of the Spaniards. This article pays attention to some representative works of different genres, mostly novels and essays.

The Immigrant Ship as the Symbol of Intermediate Existence

The causes and consequences of the Hungarian emigration to the United States at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries offer a rich field of investigation for various disciplines. The integration of the sociological, statistical, political, and literary aspects provides a productive approach to study the complex phenomenon of immigration. The immigrant ship both in concrete and in metaphorical sense can be regarded as a dynamic intermediate space linking the old country and the desired new one representing the cross-section of the emigrant society with its typical and atypical characters. The work of Sándor Tonelli, a journalist, provides an authentic picture of the twenty-three-day voyage of an immigrant ship from Fiume to New York. During the transatlantic voyage, the passengers not only get further and further away from their native country in space, but the voyage is also the starting-point of a painful process that finally concludes in identity loss and language shift. The parallel study of the different issues linked to the transatlantic migration proves that the themes and motifs occurring in Kaliforniai fürj [Californian Quail], a contemporary Hungarian novel, a family saga written by Imre Oravecz, coincide with the problems studied by sociologists, linguists, and psychologists, and thus the form of the novel is suitable to present to a larger reading public the theme of immigration and the different stages of assimilation as an inevitable consequence.

The different types of culture identified by the mentioned authors and questions on how to manage the culture are described.

Although Charlie Gard and Alfie Evans were treated in public hospitals where the costs of treatment were borne by the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), the management decisions were not influenced by cost implications, and health professionals acted in their patients’ best interests. By contrast, in a developing country such as India, very few government-funded hospitals match the resources of the NHS. Private healthcare is expensive, and socio-economic, cultural, religious, political and legal issues influence the treatment decisions. In this chapter, the authors analyse why the NHS is unique compared to developing countries such as India.

To Domesticate Polishness, or on Translating Stanisław Wyspiański’s "Wedding" into German

In this article, I have tried to outline the difficulties that could be faced while translating Wyspiański’s "Wesele" ("The Wedding"). By analyzing two German translations of this drama – by Henryk Bereska and Karl Dedecius, I have presented the possible reasons for its untranslatability. Having outlined a short history of the earlier “approaches” to the German translation of "Wesele" and starting from the concept of cultureme and the theory of L. Venuti’s domestication and foreignization, I tried to show why it is not possible to fully domesticate the whole drama, assimilating it into the German realities. The real measure of the play’s untranslatability is the number of culturemes it contains. They are the elements of the text, which significantly hinder the “annexation” of Wyspiański’s play. As an example of such a problematic cultureme, I discussed the romantic background, which was clearly visible in the 15 Scene of Act 2 (the conversation between "Upiór" and "Dziad"). Due to the lack of German romantic dramas, which would be as important for German culture as, for example, the dramas of Mickiewicz are important for the Polish reality, and which could serve as a reference point for a German reader or viewer, this romantic background becomes untranslatable. Another example of cultureme in that it is set against Polish historical background. On the other hand, the 8 Scene of the Act 1 shows how difficult it is to translate the clash of various linguistic registers, which Wyspiański very often changes in this play and which are the key to the interpretation and understanding the problems in communication between the peasantry and representatives of the intelligentsia.

As a result of the coronavirus crisis, it seems inevitable that the number of commercial disputes will increase and, in this environment, arbitration has proved an agile, resilient and also flexible, adaptable mechanism to the challenging times to which it is subjected. However, arbitrations have continued during the crisis not just because of the scope for controversial situations arisen due to pandemic, but also because some court litigations have been postponed or stopped for a while and especially due to the extended court closure arising from the pandemic restrictions. Therefore, the viable solution remained arbitration. Arbitration growth its strength with parties selecting it over litigation for more different practical reasons, even from the negotiation stage, when parties expressed more inclination and interest towards arbitration. The impact of coronavirus has forced arbitral institutions, parties, their counsels and other participants to act and quickly adopt new modern means of electronic case management tools to convene virtual hearings. In this respect, protocols and relevant guidelines to remote procedure have been promulgated in order to offer the necessary flexibility, the tools and a steady mechanism required to resort to arbitration. The arbitral institutions contributed to the arbitration stability and foreseeability by cooperating and issuing guides for the use of the technology in the most effective and efficient possible way, to achieve a world prepared to face this new coronavirus era. That is why we consider that these virtual tools should be adopted also for the future, to benefit of them in the post pandemic era.

The article constitutes an attempt to read out List do lisowczyków, a poetic insult at a famous unit,ascribed to Olbrycht Karmanowski. This attribution was retained. What was rejected, on the otherhand, was a combination of a poem with notes on lisowczyki in Karmanowski’s correspondence from1625 as a basis of this attribution present so far in the literature. The poet had many possibilities ofcoming across their plunders, especially between 1619 and 1623 when the problems with lisowczykiwere given the biggest place in the literature. This hypothetical time of List… is most probable.Reading out the poem allows for a conclusion that this is a work of a precise rhetorical organizationand rather an example of a “high” civic poetry than a literary journalism. The author wasan outstanding and technically good poet. Similar poetical means are observed in Kochanowski’sworks, which, without a doubt, were written by him.List… confirms the historians’ opinions on the nature of lisowski formation, the Polish, noble,and deprived of religious motivation in its actions. It is a look of a nobleman and citizen, perhaps alsoconnected with the military state. Formulating a moral and social evaluation, the author appreciatesa military value of the famous regiment.

In this paper, we aim to address some Jesuit testimonies of the eighteenth century about the conceptions of atmospheric phenomena from the guaycurú Argentinian Chaco Aboriginal hunter-gatherers. We do this by using a contemporary ethnography perspective as a conceptual model. Our work aims to show that they think atmospheric phenomena are relevant for guaycurú people in terms of “signs” or evidence of intentions and wishes of powerful human and non-human beings. To observe these signals is to “read” intentions, desires, appetites, and wills.

The article orders and completes the state of research concerning the edition and reception ofWojsko serdecznych afektów by Hieronim Falęcki. His work, hardly known and worked on nowadays,reflects worldview and aesthetic tendencies typical of the very epoch in which it was created.One of the distinctive features is among others respecting the principles worked out in oratory.The author, paying attention to the circumstances of the edition of Wojsko…, selected areas of itsstylistics and graphic layout, as well as citing the so-far unknown evidence of text reading by thecontemporaries, confirms a previous hypothesis by Andrzej Litwornia, who, contrary to earlier arrangements,but also on the basis of small data, suggested that the book, addressed to a wide circleof readers could be fairly popular one day.

In the modern history of Afghanistan, there are two known occupations and two withdrawals of superpowers from its territories - that of the USSR in 1989 and that of the United States in 2021. These significant events has shaped the modern meaning of the "Afghan question". concerning the place of Afghanistan in the spheres of influence of five major countries: the USSR, the USA, Iran, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The proposed study examines Iran's perspective on Tehran's policy in Afghanistan from 1979 to 2021 in the context of changes in the system of international relations that led to the depletion of the Bipolar Model and the emergence of the Post-Bipolar Model.

Legislative changes in the last two years, largely due to the pandemic that has swept society as a whole, have also affected the classic development of labor relations. Law no. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, in section 3 (art. 16 - 31) established a series of measures to adequately protect labor relations. Measures were needed to protect the workplace even after the end of the state of emergency, in order to avoid the precarious state of the employees generated by the post-pandemic problems. All the changes that labor legislation has undergone have taken into account the highest possible protection of employees by establishing a new workplace culture in terms of interrelationships and health protection.

Pandemic 2020 caused the shuttering of theaters. The article provides a historical overview of theater closures in previous centuries and presents new behaviors among actors. It describes the tendency to present performances online even if the theater's identity is to play with an audience. Social media has been used in the process, but the problem of digitizing European heritage was discussed years before the pandemic, also by the European Commission.

The chapter presents a certain classification of the consequences of the pandemic observed in the Polish economy. The analysis aimed to answer the following questions: (1) what can change as a result of the pandemic, and what will not? (2) what scenarios from an economist’s point of view can we draw for Poland for the coming months? (3) how will relations with the countries of Central Europe develop? Covid-19 and the solutions applied to curb the pandemic have a strong impact on the acceleration of certain inevitable changes in the economic sphere or in the technologies and organizational solutions used. This problem constitutes an area of analysis in its own right and leads to the presentation of scenarios for the future.

The present paper explores the phraseological meaning and linguistic-cultural aspects of the latin phraseological units, so called “”flying thoughts”, containing onomastic component. The material was selected from “Dictionary of the Latin flying thoughts” (1982), edited by N. Babichev and J. Borovskij. The attention is paid to the semantic of phraseologisms, to different approaches of their synchronic and diachronic description, and to cultural specificity. Reflecting the nature of the Roman conception of the world and the human relationships phraseological units proceed from the subjective human experience. Proper names are linguistic items fulfilling a referential function. The proper names in phraseological units are of great importance in communication where they are signs of cultural, linguistic, geographical, ethnic and social identity.

"Genezis z Ducha" (“Genesis from the Spirit”) shows formal affinity with Saint Augustine’s "Confessiones" in the use of Hexaemeron and biblical figures as a figure of the subject’s personal experience. But in Słowacki’s work, the self that speaks is sylleptical. At the same time, it is both a biographical „self” and „I”, literally constructed. The subject writes down visions in the state of theopneustia, but also ostentatiously creates images of the world. He has knowledge resulting from participation in the pre-existence of the Logos, but in the meditation he will save figures of aporia. It is identical with the Logos, but shares the fate of Lucifer. “Placed” by God on the “Ocean rocks” (see Ps 40), or rather Oceanus – it is unknown whether he is only there “out of the body” (see 2 Cor 12,2‒4). Chosen by God, he is not among the chosen people, but among the Egyptians who are “deceived” by Him. In the distant forms of nature, he finds a “memory”, discovers “revelation” and prophetic dreams, but it is not known whether they are all his states as persons, or completely external to him.
