The intention of the present study is to highlight a less “exploited” and emphasized aspect of the great scholar-hierarch of Cluj, worthy of remembrance, Metropolitan Bartolomeu Anania’s personality, namely, his quality as teacher. There is a saying in the popular language that carries a lot of truth: „life beats the movie”, meaning that life is much more complex and full of unexpected (suspense) than any well-thought-out and tricky scenario, be it in theater or fi lm, so the implacable reality of daily life rises above all human expectations and perceptions. In this way we could also describe the passing through life of the worthy warrior, Bartolomeu Valeriu Anania, which is a true pedagogical manual (rectifier), from which we can always extract lesson after lesson, applicable also to our daily experiences. Even if he was not a teacher with pedagogical writings, catechesis according to the textbooks or a long career as a professor etc., the experience of his tumultuous life, his literary and theological work place him among the Romanian orthodox teachers. In support of our assertions, without claiming an exhaustive approach to the subject, we wish to point out some stylistic pedagogical improvements that His Eminence Bartolomeu brings to the text of the well-known Psalm 142: „Lord, hear my prayer ...” and an extraordinary moving passage of the New Testament, „Jesus Christ – the good shepherd” (John 10: 1-18). The chosen method, the comparative one, takes as a comparison term the current synodal variant of the Holy Scripture, in the hope that we will incite you for new interpretations and understandings in „Spirit and truth” not only of these texts, but also of the whole body of the Jubilee Bible. It is necessary to specify that the choice of scriptural texts proposed as examples in demonstration of our words belongs to us, these can be considered by the reader as passages close (dear) to our soul, this being the only criterion for this selection. In hope that we have managed to reactivate the interest for reading and why not, carefully analyzing the text of the Holy Scripture in pedagogical key, translated, rectified and annotated by Father Bartolomeu Anania, we express our fully justified wish that the „old warrior” be bothered as often as possible at his resting place in the moist earth beneath the sole of the Cluj Cathedral and in the studies that will follow, because we all have something to learn from him.
