About the Espionage Activity of the Romanian Communist Regime 1965-1989
After the last Soviet advisers had been withdrawn from the structures of the Romanian security bodies, in December 1964, the espionage service (the External Intelligence Directorate - DIE), the same as the other internal security bodies, underwent a number of changes, adjusting to the new trends Nicolae Ceaușescu initiated in Romania’s domestic and foreign policy as soon as he took the helm of the communist party and then of the state.
