Derridina kritika Saussureovog koncepta lingvističkog znaka

The paper outlines the main points of Derrida’s critical remarks on the key concept of Saussure’s structuralist linguistics – the concept of the linguistic sign. It is argued that this critique, besides being very important for understanding Derrida’s ideas of writing and difference from the late 1960s and early 1970s, also forms a very important tool in the social sciences and humanities in general – since it opens space for a pluralist, open-ended, relativist methodology. Therefore, Derrida’s reading of Saussure transcends the limits of philosophy or linguistics, positioning itself firmly into the methodologies for a critical, open-ended science.

Jezične osobitosti bosaničnih pravnih dokumenata iz 15. stoljeća pisanih u “sutisci”

U radu se analiziraju jezične osobitosti bosaničnih pravnih dokumenata nastalih u “Sutisci” u 15. st., koje se danas čuvaju u Državnome arhivu u Dubrovniku. Jezična je analiza pokazala: - Naporednu upotrebu staroslavenskih i novih starobosanskih osobitosti, uz preovladavanje ovih drugih. - Staroslavenski oblici književnoga jezika ogledaju se u svojim obilježjima i pisarskoj maniri diplomatičke građe supostojeći sa starobosanskim tokom jezične evolucije na bosansko-humskom (hercegovačkom) tlu. U procesu izgradnje zajedničkoga književnoga srednjovjekovnog idioma sastavljenoga od elemenata dva sistema, staroslavenskoga i starobosanskoga, znatno sudjeluju bosansko-humski (hercegovački) pisari.

Dylematy interpretacyjne badacza dawnej polszczyzny południowokresowej

The paper presents some problems related to the interpretation of the linguistic facts characteristic of the Polish language of the 17th and 18th century Southern Borderland (illustrated by the example of phonetic features). Due to the complicated genesis of this language variety, it is sometimes difficult or even impossible to determine the nature and origin of some phenomena. Interpretative dilemmas arise in the case of such questions as: 1) does a phenomena in question have a merely graphic or also phonetic nature (e.g. forms such as Błogosławięstwy), 2) should a phenomena in question be considered a peripheral archaism or a result of Ukrainian interference (e.g. forms such as alie, pisarsz, oczekuiąć), 3) should a phenomena in question be considered one of Polish dialect features or Ukrainian borrowings (e.g. forms such as Łaskie, sztachietow, chiba) etc.

W trosce o skuteczne nauczanie gramatyki historycznej języka polskiego

Marcin Maciołek in the article entitled „The Care for Efficient Teaching Polish Language Historical Grammar” discusses ways thanks to which in teaching phonetics and historical morphology of Polish one can reach intended didactic result: raise student’s interest for the subject and encourage them to individual work on discovering the past of Polish language. In author’s opinion to get that effect teacher must: 1) check what is the level of student’s knowledge; 2) give clear (strictly explained) methodological basis; 3) pick proper examples for analysis; 4) determine analytic procedure, form useful suggestions; 5) indicate resilience of discussed processes in dialects and contemporary language (or its sustenance in old evolutionary stages); compare with other Slavic languages; 6) not divide strictly for phonetics and morphology; 7) create friendly atmosphere during classes.

Средна скорост на речта за българския език (пилотно изследване)

Bulgarian science has not yet established the average speech rate of adult native speakers of Bulgarian during a talking task. This pilot study aims to measure the average rate of natural speech by applying a methodology in which the measurable speech unit is syllable per minute. 30 individuals (10 men and 20 women) participated in the experiment. They were asked to talk for at least 2 minutes on a topic of their choice. The study found that the speech rate was 280 syllables per minute. Within this pilot experiment, a comparison was also made between men’s and women’s speech, showing a very insignificant difference genderwise.

The paper compares characteristic dialect features of the Bulgarian dialects from the Debar (Dibra) region in the Republic of Albania and features of the Rhodope dialects. The aim of the comparison is to clarify the nature of the similar or identical features in the reflexes of the back nasal and back jer vowel in different phonetic and phono-morphological positions. Attention is also paid to the dialect lexeme ушники – ‘earrings’, which shows common lexical features in the considered area.

Balkan vs Romance in the linguistic atlas of the Romanian dialects to the north and the south of the Danube

Our paper aims to emphasise the dialectal similarities of North- and South-Danubian Romanian dialects (Daco-Romanian, Aromanian, Megleno-Romanian, Istro-Romanian) spoken in Romania, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Serbia, Hungary, Albania, Bulgaria, the Republic of North Macedonia, Greece, Croatia. Our research is based on the questionnaire of Atlas Linguarum Europae (ALE), the ALE dialectal archive of the Iorgu Iordan – Al. Rosetti Institute of Linguistics at the Romanian Academy, in order to have a comparison with European dialects. In this way, the concordances with the Romance languages related to the languages of the Balkan Sprachbund and with other European languages are highlighted. The aim is to emphasise the Romance nature and the unity of the Romanian language in the European context.

Произход на български диалектни думи (принос към българската диалектна етимология и „Българския етимологичен речник“)

The paper applies a systematic approach to the etymologization of Bulgarian dialect words of Turkish origin. The object of analysis are Turkish loanwords with initial a- from the Dictionary of an archaic Rhodope dialect – the dialect of Ropkata, published in 2022. Specific phonetic changes are described, whose regularity in the dialect helps to find other dialectal variants of the words under consideration and to identify the Turkish primary source. The analyzed words are not included in Volume I of the Bulgarian Etymological Dictionary, and the majority of them are not reflected in the corresponding entries of the Dictionary of Turkisms in Bulgarian, so they are related to the respective etymological word families for the first time. Clarifications, additions and corrections are made to some of the existing etymologies or a new etymological interpretation is proposed. Emphasis is placed on the variation of the borrowed dialect lexis, which is of great importance for discovering the foreign language etymon.

За мекостта на билабиалните консонанти в българския и в румънския език (акустичен аспект)

The study analyzes the acoustic characteristics of the bilabial consonants bj, pj and mj in the Bulgarian language and of the bilabial consonants b, p and m in the Romanian language, when preceding the graphic combination ea. The comparative analysis is based on the type of F1 and F2 transition, as the transition of F1 frequencies with soft consonants is lower at the beginning (onset) and higher at the end (offset), while F2 is characterized by higher initial frequencies and lower final frequencies. The experiments show that the acoustic characteristics of the Romanian bilabial consonants b, p and m before ea are close to the acoustic characteristics of the Bulgarian soft bilabial consonants.
