The orientalisation of the Slavs by Herder and Hegel provides the context for this study. The author of the article presents how Mickiewicz originates his language from the works of Herder—who describes the Slavs as an idyllic nation, connected with the countryside—and later outlines the vision of the Slavs as a nation of power that wants to change the history of the 19th century.
