„Džungle, má lásko“ aneb Prsatý muž a zloděj příběhů Josefa Formánka

Příspěvek se zabývá debutovým románem Josefa Formánka (*1969) Prsatý muž a zloděj příběhů (2003). Třebaže kniha měla poměrně velký komerční úspěch, česká literární kritika jí příliš kladné hodnocení nevystavila. Důvodů, proč tomu tak bylo, je několik. Některé z nich se pokusím pojmenovat a objasnit. Ve svém příspěvku se zaměřím především na 1) nástin východisek Formánkovy tvorby a na její pozici v kontextu české literatury první dekády nového milénia, a na 2) poetickou a narativní analýzu uvedeného románu.

Česká problémová dramatika šedesátých let 20. století

In his monograph Czech Problem Drama of the 1960s, David Kroča (b. 1973), a literary scholar and educator at Masaryk University, focuses on a period that can in many respects be viewed as a turning point in the poetics of the original Czech drama. From the varied production of drama in the 1960s, which was rich in genre, he chose to research a specific stream called problem drama in which an ordinary dramatic conflict is substituted with an escalated confrontation of different opinions related to a particular problem. The introductory theoretical and context chapters consider the developmental tendencies in Czech drama as well as some important foreign resources. The core of the work consists of analytical and interpretative chapters which deal with the analysis of those dramas where the authors tackle serious existential problems and question social and moral responsibility.

This paper is devoted to the memoir piece of workU Masarykovcov. Spomienky osobnej archivárky T. G.Masaryka, assembled from the diary records of Anna Horáková- -Gašparíková in 1995. The writings depict the last years of the president in office. Unlike most of the memoirs from the era, this particular piece of work displays not only political activities and opinions of the president, but also documents his personal characteristics and authentic opinions and beliefs presented in privacy. As a result of this, the work brings an unique perspective on presidentʼs life. This paper analyzes the work in terms of being a source of new information not only about the presidentʼs personality, but also about the author herself.

ИЛЛЮСТРАЦИИ К РОМАНУ ЙОЗЕФА ВАХАЛА «КРОВАВЫЙ РОМАН»

The relationship between illustrations and text can play a variety of roles and carry a wide range of meanings. Illustrations can visualize the main idea of the text or its literal reading. They can complement or explain the work. Moreover, they can enrich the literary text or fuse with it. The literary text and illustrations make a complex and a coherent whole that is a combination verbal and visual arts. A possible and practical interpretation of the nature of this connection can be found in the novel by Joseph Váchal, Bloody Novel. The illustrations in it are made by the author himself, which allows viewing them as a single semiotic construct in conjunction with the text that, thus, could carry a hidden message that adds a level of meaning to the novel. The book contains approximately 79 xylographic illustrations.

Vladislav Vančura v literárním kontextu 20. století

On June 23, 2021, it was the 130th anniversary of Vladislav Vančura’s birth, and June 1, 2022, was the 80th anniversary of his death. These anniversaries became the impetus for a collective volume entitled Vladislav Vančura in the Literary Context of the 20th Century. The editor Jiří Poláček approached researchers from various disciplines from literary studies to linguistics and to theatre studies with an appeal to think and rethink the literary and general cultural legacy of this important figure. The book volume by the team of researchers from six Czech universities is an attempt to reflect on the oeuvre by Vančura from the perspective of the current state of knowledge in literary studies and the broader context of the 20th century. The image of Vladislav Vančura within the context of the previous century arises from 15 texts by 15 authors, organized into four thematic blocks.

The monograph is the first volume of a forthcoming edition dealing with the correspondence of the Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů with his family in Polička. This volume contains 61 of the earliest correspondence documents (letters, postcards and a telegram) from his student years at the Prague Conservatoire in 1906-1910 to the end of 1931. The correspondence is one-sided, only Bohuslav Martinů's letters addressed to his family have survived; the composer did not archive the letters he received due to the large volume of his correspondence. Despite this, these documents contain unique authentic messages in which Martinů himself comments on his life and professional journey. The letters are presented in the form of a diplomatic transcription and are supplemented by annotated notes.
