The book is a monograph of Lodz theater festivals, including festivals organized in drama, off, puppet, children’s and youth theaters, as well as in the opera theater, as well as in other cultural institutions. These reviews took place in Lodz in the period from the 1960s to 2016. The festivals, initiated by regional artistic circles and fitting into the history of Lodz and Polish culture, are watched by students – today graduates – of the theater specialization at Cultural Studies at the Institute of Contemporary Culture at the University of Lodz.

One of the most numerous groups in Poland, with almost a hundred thousand people, whose access to art has been difficult or limited over the years, are undoubtedly people with visual impairments. There is no need to convince anyone that participation in artistic events has an extraordinary power to connect people, develop their creativity and that it teaches openness to others. Similarly, there is no dispute about the beneficial influence of art to the process of rehabilitation and revalidation of people with disabilities. Nevertheless, blind people are still forced to stand up for equal rights in cultural institutions. Looking at this issue, we can easily see that people with poor eyesight and blind in Poland gained access to the world of theatre and film only at the beginning of the new century. In November 2006, the first Polish film screening with audio description delivered live by a voice-over was organized. A year later the first Polish theatre performance with audio description was held. The article is devoted to the blind in the world of spectacles, discussing the problem in the context of the project unique in Europe – The Reading Theatre for people with poor eyesight and blind, implemented for over a decade by Powszechny Theatre in Łódź. The textpresents the characteristics of the project, its original form, as well as a detailed description of sample premieres realized as part of the series, statements by the creators and its originator – director Ewa Pilawska.

Nauka prawa w sztuce filmów animowanych

This paper deals with the analysis of legal content in animated films. The study covers both the presence, functioning and role of legal aspects in these pieces and the possibility of their use in the process of legal education. The analysis is conducted on the basis of the ten most lucrative animated movies in the history of cinema, which were released until 2017. The author points out the structuring role of law in animated movies and notes that the plot of the film in many cases develops due to the occurrence of legal events, and the motivations of the characters' actions are often determined by incentives to achieve the desired legal consequences. The article emphasizes that the law is treated in animated movies as a means to achieve certain goals, for example, humoristic or regarding developing plot, as evidenced by the differences in the translation of dialogues involving legal issues into different languages. At the same time, the author draws attention to the practical possibilities of using animated films in the process of legal education of children.

The article attempts to challenge the validity of stereotypical evaluations of Plato’s reflectionon art, which is often seen as a dogmatic attack on the artistic culture. The author argues, thatone should treat art in dialectical rather than dogmatic model. He indicates the potential varietyof interpretations of Plato’s Parmenides. A reference to dialectical method shows that Plato inhis attitude to art has presented only one of two complementary dialectic poles: the founderof the Academy explicitly characterizes art negatively, but also calls for its defense. Author’sargumentation shows that the most important premises for reconstruction of Plato’s “theory ofart” are included in the construction of the dialogues themselves, where aesthetic qualities aretreated with comparable care as the logical structure of the line of argument. Author illustrateshis reasoning with examples from Plato’s myth‑crafting (Symposium, Phaedrus, Timaeus). Theauthor discusses the meaning of the genealogical myth, included in the myth of the history of theuniverse, described by Plato’s Timaeus. In the conclusion, author contends that Plato’s dialecticsmay also assist our reflections on contemporary issues relating to both artistic culture and itstheory.

Nowadays aggression and violence are problems not only in families. They appear more oftenat schools and peer groups.Many groups of people are searching for methods, ways to solve this problem. The author ofthis article proposes introduction for preventing actions (like for instance a rich offer of artisticactivities) that could counteract aggressive behavior and addiction among children.This studywas complied from a survey of children from one of the primary schools in Mysłowice. In thesurvey children from The fifth classes took part. Analysis of the survey and hypothesis confirmedand proved that such preventing activities (especially art classes) are necessary. It shows thatthe aim of the survey was achieved. Such activities and classes (e.g. art) reduce frustration andtension and relieve aggression among children.
