In this paper I examined one of the effects of László Ravasz’s theological thinking, namely the development of his spiritual life and its impact on his position as a scholar of theology. Due to the limitations of the scope of this paper, I present the lesser known views of Ravasz’s work on mission. Among others, John R. Mott’s lecture in Cluj-Napoca provides clues that the young Ravasz approached the tasks of pastoral ministry, preaching, dissemination of the gospel, theological education in a modern and relevant manner. This approach was not perfect, but it helped to bring about a new impetus for the Hungarian Protestant worldview that was stuck in rationalism and liberalism and for Protestant theology in general to start off towards the dialectical theology. Ravasz was an authentic representative of this transition.

This article presents an analysis of one of the fundamental aspects of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński’s teaching, which is Mariology understood in praxeological terms. As the source materials’ research confirms, veneration and trust in the Blessed Virgin Mary undoubtedly enacted a significant role in the life and episcopal ministry of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński. Moreover, the Marian pastoral program developed by the Primate resisted the communist apparatus of state power pressure. As a result, it became a response to many threats posed by post-war social and political reality, contributing to preserving the Polish people’s identity and cultural independence. The author of this paper intends to present Cardinal Wyszyński’s teaching on the Blessed Virgin Mary, apprehended as the Mother of God-Man and the Mother of the Church. The exploration of the above research will be based on analyzing source texts using the historical and theological method. Consequently, the author of the article will try to capture and outline not only the Mariology of the Primate Wyszyński and the crucial theological substance it contains. However, an essential element of the above research will expose its praxeological dimension manifested in various pastoral initiatives monitored by the then Church in Poland. Thus, the reverence and veneration of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Poland, and Mother of the Church have played a fundamental role. The culminating moment on the Marian way of Cardinal Wyszyński’s episcopal service was the act of total dedication to Mary in the spirit of St. Louis Maria Grignion de Montfort. The pastoral programs that emerged as a consequence of this Vows enacted a pivotal role in maintaining the faith and Christian tradition by the Nation, strengthening the post-war Church in Poland, as well as impacting the entire universal Church.

The aim of this analytical study carried out on the basis of existing sources was to determine the correlation between the activity of Archbishop Ignacy Tokarczuk involving the reception of moral values and norms in social life and development of social capital in the Diocese of Przemyśl. Projects initiated by Abp. Tokarczuk, in which he put special emphasis on the observance of moral law, had a positive effect on social ties, the number of connections, and the increase of social trust. Belief in the predictable behaviour of cooperating partners, as well as adherence to moral values and norms shared by many individuals promoted the development of associational activity and made teamwork more dynamic. The powers of individuals joined in cooperation allowed for the more efficient execution of tasks aimed at the common good of local communities. Cooperation brought benefits to both religious and secular communities. The movement aimed at the construction of sacral architecture developed dynamically, and associational activity increased, as did the level of religiosity. The activity of anti-communist independence organizations, demanding the democratization of social life, was also stimulated. Universal moral values and norms emphasized and promoted by Tokarczuk created axiological foundations for the establishment of a civil society.

The presence of a significant number of people with mental disorders among the faithful of the Catholic Church requires in-depth pastoral reflection on how to approach their needs. They form a specific group in society, as they are endowed with special sensitivity and above-average needs of spiritual care. The Church strives to support such people by constantly calling for care and sensitivity to their presence in various environments. This article attempts to conceptualize the specificity of mental disorders in the context of the sacrament of penance and reconciliation. Moreover, a set of operating principles has been suggested that will enable people affected by mentioned above disorders to experience the sacrament properly.

It is also estimated that over 5 percent of Europeans are depressed, over 4 percent are affected by anxiety disorders, and the overall increase in mental illness in 2005–2015 was 16 percent. Half of all inhabitants of the Old Continent will suffer from mental disorders at least once in their life. Therefore, the Church should reflect on the pastoral care of such people. In the preparation for the use of the sacraments, the cooperation of the clergyman with other hospital staff, especially pastoral assistants, is of great importance. The article draws attention to the general aspects of pastoral support for patients with mental disorders and presents how such persons should prepare for confession and the Eucharist.

They participate in the liturgy, they receive holy sacraments and they are prayed for by all the parishioners. At the same time, they actively participate in the liturgy and in other devotions, offering up their prayers and their suffering for other people. Participating in building the brotherly parish community, they try to implement their vocation in the Church and in the world, being the apostles of the Christian way of life. In modern times, a therapeutic culture is promoted in which people express their resistance toward all forms of suffering and pain and make many efforts in order to stay healthy and well. All this is a challenge for the Church, whose task is to use the therapeutic potential of the Christian faith and help them in leading a healthy life. It becomes possible when a person is able to integrate in her life all states – illness, death, wrong decisions and failings. In this action of supportive believers, God himself supports them how to serve people who are sick in body and soul, descending towards them with his foregoing love. God’s action, filled with care for the weak and needy and with graciousness towards sinners, is a model for pastors who are called to carry out their ministry in the spirit of benignitas pastoralis. Then, compassion, solidary closeness and God’s tenderness are communicated to people in the interpersonal relationships they establish in their pastoral activity. Pastoral meekness practiced in this way leads people seeking health to accept their fragility and sinfulness, to unite with God and to draw strength from it to overcome their weaknesses and spiritual hurts.

The text, referring to theological sciences and studies on communicology, proves the thesis that a listener of the homily should be treated not as a passive recipient of the Word of God preached during the liturgy, but as an entity that has such a great impact on the content and manner of preaching the Gospel, that he can be described as a coauthor of the sermon. The author divides work on the homily into three stages: preparation of the text, preaching the Word of God in the liturgical context, and the time after the liturgy, confirming that at each of these stages it is necessary for the preacher to cooperate with the persons to whom he directs his preaching. Sometimes the presence of listeners is virtual, some other time – real. However, this presence is always so important that disregarding it will have a negative impact on the quality of preaching the Word of God.

In this article the maternity was appeared as an achievement of the calling to embody and likeness to God. The mystery of the creation is strictly connected with the fact that the man was also gifted with the spiritual life. This kind of life makes that the man becomes relative of God. The maternity is realized as well as personal-ethical and not only bio physiological. The main point of the maternity is a conscious woman’s response to God’s invitation in taking part in creation. This means that the woman agrees to accept a gift of a new life what is in the same time a gift of herself. This is the way how the woman participates in God’s power of creation. It is connected with the mystery of eternal giving birth in God.

This overview of Melanchthon’s dialectic is far from being complete. He continues to present the rules of scientific thinking and the theoretical and practical methods. But the short survey, which covers the essence of his scholarly view, shows a clear intention and effort on his behalf to “domesticate” the classical (pagan) science of thinking in view of their adoption by the Protestant churches. He believed that by doing so, he was advancing the science of the Word, as far as the preparation to the church service is concerned. He was aware that the classical scholarship of humanism could improve Protestant theology, which was to become more erudite, while enriching church sermons with more depth and substance. The overview also shows Melanchthon’s deep commitment to pedagogy, and his concern to be useful to both his students and pastors by elaborating on and strengthening the specific Christian theology of the century. By this he inscribed his name forever into the memory book of the Protestant science and pedagogy.

The article examines the New Evangelisation that was proclaimed by John Paul II. This evangelization was the group of pastoral activities addressed to dechristianised societies. The article discusses the schemes of Catholic pastoral activities that existed in the course of history and influenced the New Evangelisation. It analyses the essential role of the catechumenate for the education of new Christians in the early Church. In the Middle Ages, after the catechumenate was gradually abandoned because of spread of infant baptism, faith often lacked the dimension of personal decision. The article explores how the mission Ad gentes is used in the New Evangelisation, which becomes a common paradigm for pastoral care in the Catholic Church.

The phenomena of migration encourages the Catholic Church to reconsider its Mission in the World, which was defined in the Second Vatican Council as missio ad gentes. The development of pastoral care of migrants in the last decade and researches made in the field of theology of migration raise the need to move from the concept of ad gentes to the concept of inter gentes. In the article, the author examines the origins of the concept of missio inter gentes in Scripture’s story of Jesus meeting the Samaritan at the well. According to Revelation, there are four possible stages in the application of inter gentes: meeting in the plane of hospitality, compassion and empathy, proclamation through testimony, evangelization through presence among people. These stages highlight aspects of presumable adaptability in the pastoral care of migrants as expressed by Pope Francis: to welcome, to protect, to promote and to integrate.
