The essay examines the various approaches which scientists have taken to study the role of Intelligence in national and international politics. We take into consideration the numerous methodological and epistemological strategies that characterized the study of „Intelligence” during the last 50 years. From the very beginning, studies on „Intelligence” have been characterized by interdisciplinarity and „opening” towards various conceptual approaches. Historians, political scientists, sociologists and professionists from the field have brought all together their contributions to the development of research in connection with „Intelligence” issues. The author reaches the conclusion that this is one of the greatest advantages of this subdomain, arguing for a continuous broadening and deepening of studies on the intelligence agenda.

Rok Pański 2020 rozpoczął się jak kazdy inny. Noworoczne nabozeństwo i kilka kolejnych w styczniowe i lutowe niedziele wyglądały tak jak co roku. Rok 2020 został ogłoszony „Rokiem wolności chrześcijańskiej” i to właśnie wolność miała być wiodącym motywem teologicznym w Kościele Ewangelicko-Augsburskim w Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej. Ta wolność, w wielu wymiarach naszej egzystencji, została w roku 2020 wystawiona na cięzką próbę.

In this article we will describe the contribution of the Romanian scientist Dr. Ștefan Odobleja (1902–1978) to the definition of the needs for the training of young people to build a strong country. In a genuine testament for young people, Odobleja explains the following needs that young people have to take into account: the need for creation, the need for learning, the need to solve problems, the need to organize one’s mind, the need for diversified work, the need to discipline their senses and imagination, to use experiments, the need for classification, comparison, analysis and synthesis, the need for living logically. Odebleja’s contributions are all the more important if one takes into acount that he is considered to be a physician, because they have cre ated ideas and concepts complementary to some ideas introduced by N. Wiener. It can be appreciated that during 1920–1940 the ideas and studies on Cybernetics appeared, the science that laid the systems con cept (for the man and the machine), the structure of the systems (control and communication between the components of a system), which led to the construction of the computing system (computer system). Dr. Ștefan Odobleja was recognized as a precursor of Cybernetics at the 4th International Cybernetics Congress, held in Amsterdam in August1978. His Communication „Diversity and Unity in Cybernetics” was pre sented at the Congress by Dr. Stelian Bajureanu. After the presentation of Odobleja’s work, the participants chanted „40 Years of Cybernetics,” although they were celebrating „30 Years of Cybernetics” and mathema tician Norbert Wiener. Studying and researching the processes in the human body, Dr. Ștefan Odobleja defines and studies various concepts for the functioning of the human body organs through coordination by the human brain, intuiting that it can reach the „mechanisation of thought” and that the „psychic machine” would be invented.

The paper presents the activity and achievements of Professor Zenon Klemensiewicz as the editor of the “Język Polski” journal (‘The Polish Language’), the official publication of The Society of Friends of the Polish Language (Towarzystwo Miłośników Języka Polskiego). Klemensiewicz became the editor in the end of 1958, and performed his duties until his death in a plane crash, on April 2, 1969. The author identifies the most important of Klemensiewicz’s achievements at the position of the editor: the extension of the editorial board of the journal, the introduction of new authors and numerous papers representing the most recent (in the 1960s) linguistic trends, such as structural and generative linguistics, text linguistics, press discourse analysis, as well as the increase of the circulation of the journal and its importance for the Polish linguistic community as well as for other groups of its readers.

Zenon Klemensiewicz is the creator of the theoretical and practical discipline of teaching Polish. Inspired by the 90th anniversary of the publication of his fundamental work Dydaktyka nauki o języku ojczystym (‘Teaching the science of the native tongue’), these considerations pose, from the point of view of a contemporary teacher, the question about the timeliness and longevity of Klemensiewicz’s views on linguistic education in schools. To answer them, we attempted to recover the tracks he left as a researcher and as a teacher. They proved to be many, and durable. They are listed here, and their existence is taken as proof that through the vehicle of his works referred to in this paper, Prof. Z. Klemensiewicz inscribed himself on the plane that does not become obsolete, the plane of “long duration” of language teaching. They mark a path that is worth following, because it clearly shows both the sense of continuation, and the need for change as guarantors and operators of progress.
