An appropriate and sufficient approach to the research about these militias will be from an internal conflict rather than an external conflict. She examines three possible explanatory dimensions: betrayal of their own principles, defeats suffered in colliding with the power of the state, and the vast complexity of the really existing circumstances, i.e. the nature of the crisis that erodes transformative capacities of movements.

Current situation in Sahel is today one of the most important topics in study of Africa. Sahel or Sahara poses interesting area to study sub-state actors. As this area is hardly to controle it could poses the unpredictable factor both in internal or international politics. Therefore, it is also important for the study of reasons behind interventions in the area. This article deals with an analysis of reasons which led to the Nigerien participation in the intervention in the internal conflict in Mali. The main aim of the paper is to indicate how specific actors and permeable borders caused a safety threat to Niger during the conflict in Mali. The author discusses the roles of the Tuaregs and the Sahel/Sahara in the Niger’s decision to support and actively participate in the Malian conflict. Using the concept of heterarchy it is presented how local actors perform significant roles in the Sahara’s and Sahelian area. Viewed this way, the Sahara is not an obstacle but it connects the people, social groups and states. This space together with different groups that operate there, poses a security threat considering the fact that it is an armed group operation area, which can lead to a conflict contagion.

In the first part of the article author offers the outline of main teorethical and methodological traits of group alanysis of large social groups, including the respect for basic athmosfere and maturity of social group itself, personal characteristics of leaders as well as specificity of group’s social mentality, all eithin the theoretical frame of W. R. Bion. In the second step main characteristics of large groups, of Serbs and Croats, are exposed that are relevant for the analysis of irrational aspects of conflict between these two groups: linguistical, economic, social-anthropological, and historical, including the basic facts on leaders that gave impact to the conflict.

Turkey’s interest in Iraq is an intense pursuit of the strategic interests of the forces in the international arena and the future of the region is determined by forces trying to dominate the world. The future of the peoples of Iraq, whose map is redrawn every day for the sake of energy wars, is also determined by the defenders of the new world order. Therefore, Iran-Iraq War, the Gulf Wars, and the US occupation of Iraq by armed struggles have been fought in recent history of the country. All these wars and struggles have had significant economic, social, political, and military impacts on Turkey. Within the perspective of our interests, it is crucial for Turkey to have a right to comment both on the future of the Turkmens and on the regional security and stability.

In the first paragraph, information are provided about the newspaper’s foundation, its political and cultural approach, its gradual publishing development until the first years of the 20 th century, when it became the first newspaper in Italy. The second paragraph provides guidance about the amount of articles published in the first year after Alba Iulia’s Declaration and about topics covered in the newspaper, about Great Romania. In the following report a list of issues of the several published articles can be found: Italian-Romanian brotherhood; domestic and political situation; royal family’s affairs; Romania’s serious situation after Austrian-German invasion; relationship between Romania and Bulgaria; annexation of the new regions to Romania; Romanian dissatisfaction for obtained areas; the 1916 Treaty; the Banat matter; relations between Romania and the Bolschevik Hungary; relations between Romania and great powers, protagonists of the Peace Conference. The following report presents and mentions more than sixty articles out of the total eightyones, which were published in the first year after the Great Union. It groups them according to issues and it begins from the less frequent matters to get to those much more debated by „Corriere della Sera”. In the final part some conclusions are drawn, based on what the analysis of the newspaper articles has shown, and they concern the attitude of „Corriere della Sera” in respect of Great Romania, in its first year of life. The most influential Italian newspaper took a favorable position towards Romania and its territorial aspirations, in the most important year of the Paris Conference.

The study aims to explain why the Peace Settlement of 1919 was doomed before it was even created and why it was further undermined, on one hand, by its own failure to include in the League of Nations, as keystone of post World War order, the ”troublemakers” Germany and Russia, on the other hand, by Wilson’s failure to bring the US in the League’s fold. As the 1919 Peace of Paris created fourgroups (winners of the war and benefactors; losers and revisionists; opportunists; isolationists), it could not lead to true international harmony or balance of power. Based on impressive vintage and current sources, quoting especially Raymond J. Sontag’s considerations exposed in his European Diplomatic History 1871–1932, the study shares a rather pessimistic view, debating concepts belonging to ethics and philosophy of history, highlighting unresolvable paradoxes, antitheses and dilemmas. But even in cases when history does not serve as a real magistra vitae, historians are nevertheless compelled to view it realistically, never giving up hope in ideals and aspirations for morality.

The aim of this paper is to present and analyze the relevant literature on radicalization, and to give an overview of some key points of disagreement and discussion in the current academic and political discourse on radicalization and terrorism. Key events are presented in atheoretical frameworks for understanding radicalization, including debates about definitions, basic causes, recruitment patterns, and phases of the radicalization process. the literature review presents current academic discussions about the complex factors that create a certain type of radicalization, as well as the ideological basics and expressions, organizational structures, manifestations and causes associated with it. the paper will explore ideas, methods and ways ofradicalization, and suggest how to develop and implement effective preventive countermeasures. radicalization is a phenomenon that is applicable to different individuals and groups, but the focus in the paper is Islamist radicalization.
