There is a growing use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in all areas of social and economic life. Proof of this is the introduction of innovative technologies in various production processes, the effective electronic services offered to businesses and citizens, management using cloud computing, Big Data and artificial intelligence, the implementation of distance learning, and networking of people. This article examines the importance of digital skills and the need of basic digital skills. Digital technologies have a perceptible impact on innovations, economic growth, the labor market and the type of digital skills for citizens that are necessary not only for successful professional realization but also for participation in public life and maintaining social contacts. The text presents data from an empirical study which focuses on operational and information digital skills (according to classification of Van Dijk) as a main prerequisite for successful professional realization of students in the higher education system. The method used for data collection is a questionnaire constructed in accordance with the European Digital Competence Framework for Citizens (DigComp 2.1).The authors present analysis of current students' digital communication skills including interaction through technology, sharing information and content, using online resources for educational purpose, and the level of digital skills acquired through various educational activities. The need for improvement of digital skills is outlined, development guidelines are given to help adapt the educational process to the new requirements of the digital economy.

The article describes the priorities in the development of a scientific organization and teaching toolbox in the field of security studies. Security studies remain a quite new discipline in social sciences and are based on traditions of military science, political science, pedagogy, and other sciences. The newest complex handbooks dedicated to security studies scholars on the local market have been published for the last few years. In this essay, the author examines local and global practices in the creation of professional handbooks for security studies in order to find good practices in teaching students in the Eastern European environment. Theoretical analysis was conducted on the basis of learning organization theory.

Smart City - A new concept of green and technological city

Objectives The search for the meaning of the term of the new cities called "Smart City". Approach the search for articles that explain the meaning of smart cities and offer an explanation of this term. A survey is useful for understanding if the population of a nation knows these new cities, and what they think of them. Results Several authors speak of smart cities and therefore different definitions of these cities can be found. to overcome this, six characteristics have been identified, which have been accepted by all. From the answers of the survey it can be observed that smart cities are known by almost all the population of Italy and Norway.

The European High North (EHN) region faces distinct challenges in terms of socio-economic, cultural and environmental infrastructure. As a peripheral region, it is usually characterised as being geographically distant, with a sparse population, relatively poor physical and economic infrastructure, and far from major administrative hubs located mostly in its southern areas. Integrating new technology as a well-established phenomenon, particularly digital innovation, in regional development strategies has been found enormously relevant and beneficial for the citizens inhabiting this region. In effect, the EHN’s sustainability depends on the efficient management of land use and natural resources, economic and human activities, and services and facilities. The expansion of digital technology and its appearance in many areas of the everyday lives of people and communities provide better efficiencies in the context of service design and infrastructural development. Given that the EHN is relatively better progressed than similar peripheral regions and has therefore set an example of modern development in the area of digitalisation, this paper analyses the realities of the cities of Tromsø in Norway and Rovaniemi in Finland as case studies of providing potentially ‘smarter’, efficient, and modern services that combine development, sustainability, and human wellbeing.

Parish Registers in the Archival Fonds of the State Archives in Szczecin

The article aims to show the value that Protestant parish registers kept in the State Archives in Szczecin have for demographic research. The paper will also examine the internal structure of the Pomeranian and New Marchian parish registers, showing the changes that took place in the records over a period of more than 350 years (from the end of the 16th century to the mid-20th century). The material is also intended to encourage academics to use the sources in their research work.

The introduction of new bibliometric indicators for measuring scientific work puts the university and scientific libraries in Bulgaria in the need of creation of databases with citations of professors and scientists in every scientific organization. Each country creates its own citation index. The purpose of the article is to analyse existing bibliographic practises for classifying scientific references and the examine the question for the creation of a National platform to unite them, as well as creating a National Reference Register, in particular one for social studies. It is time for us to decide who will manage the combined citation document resources and how to create a Bulgarian index for scientific citation or a National Citation Index, in general and one for the social studies in particular. Social studies are less represented than the other branches of science, for example, in platforms like Scopus and Web of Science, which are the most influential platforms in the world and publishing and citation in them has more weight in the formation of the minimal national requirements for academic growth. I am using the historical approach and comparative analysis to show the practical experience of countries that have created such Registers and have achieved excellent results. I also offer for discussion a model to build a hierarchical structure for exchange of quoted data. The university libraries need exact criteria which citation to list and how the Bulgarian index for scientific citation in general will be formed, as well as the one for social studies.

The article systematizes information about the current cultural heritage programs in the Bulgarian higher education area. The data shows that in eleven Bulgarian universities a diploma of cultural heritage can be obtained.17 master's and 3 bachelor's programs prepare over 500 students a year. Two doctoral programs are also accredited. The rich variety of curricula is an objective result of the complex structure of cultural heritage in itself. However, it is also an indicator for the fragmentation of the higher education system in Bulgaria. The conclusion proposes approaches to overcoming the mentioned fragmentation, as the interdisciplinarity of the scientific field requires pooling of competencies and efforts for better results.

Преживявания на студенти в условията на пандемия от Covid-19

Using the methodological approach of qualitative research to conduct empirical research in the social sciences, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on students' experiences of the present and their projections for the future is revealed. The results show that many of them find positives from social isolation in the opportunity to pay more attention to the people important to them and to work more purposefully on their own development. On the other hand, serious fears are revealed, the main of which is for the health and life of their loved ones, as well as for the future, for their career development and realization. They find it difficult to tolerate social isolation and most of them experience their mental state as shaky, as depressed. In general, students have a negative attitude towards distance learning– online, considering it inferior to face-to-face training and assess this training as a risk to their professional development and subsequent realization in the labor market.

In the process of digitalization and the change of education in almost digital, the professional training of teachers in higher schools is of particular relevance, determined with social and pedagogical importance. This includes a set of a number of individual competences that educators need to possess and develop. The changes in the technologies and economic situation of Bulgaria set new requirements in terms of the skills and individual competencies of the teachers. The purpose of modern higher education is to take into account the current and future needs of the student, as well as to prepare a multi developed person capable of social adaptation in society for the beginning of professional realization and self-improvement. The main objective of this development is to develop a model of the individual competencies of higher education teachers in the digitalization process. The main research methods used in the development are contingent analysis, method of analysis and synthesis, intuitive and systematic approach.

Nature and Environment in William Wordsworth’s Selected Poems: An Eco-critical Approach

In recent years, studying connections between the human being and environment along with nature has been looked at as a topic of significant value for literary researchers. Thus, the emergence of eco-critical approach in the countries, which use English as their first language, holds the first position in this respect. This harmony of the two has been discussed for a while in world literature. This research studies literature review and pinpoints the positive view been presented by looking at eco-criticism. The methods used are textual analysis approach and eco-critical approach. The major points of this study are to investigate the main theme and shed light on it and the way William Wordsworth used his writings to protect the environment from destructions and the writer used eco-criticism or ecology in his works in his time. The environment and ecology in William Wordsworth’s poems are the two things which have been dealt with because poems can serve human beings and make them aware of protecting the environment from pollution. This research consists of several essential points about the literature and nature as well as ecology. Besides, the paper presents an introduction about Englandin the nineteenth century, romanticism, and characteristics of romanticism as these are interrelated with eco-criticism.
