Increasingly visible in today's emerging need for a radical change in human activity. This change is moving towards independence, self-realisation, liberation from external constraints of individuals and expand areas of their own autonomy. In times of increased growth of information, must therefore increase the strength of the cognitive autonomy of readers and librarians teaching culture and culture to offer, should contribute to the support of those properties. The most relevant criterion for testing the effectiveness of teaching functions of public libraries according to their influence on the personality of the readers are readers and self-realisation of their work on its own character.

Media relations jako forma komunikacji marketingowej biblioteki

Public relations to nie tylko narzędzie strategii marketingowych firm i organizacji biznesowych, ale także bibliotek. Jego działania przyczyniają się do kształtowania pozytywnego wizerunku biblioteki jako instytucji oraz do budowania właściwych relacji między użytkownikami i bibliotekarzami. W artykule przedstawiono problematykę media relations jako jednego z narzędzi marketingu oraz elementu public relations. Scharakteryzowano terminy media relations oraz publicity, a także rodzaje mediów, z którymi mogą nawiązywać współpracę biblioteki w celu kształtowania swojego wizerunku oraz promocji oferowanych usług. Przedstawiono dane na temat tworzenia w polskich bibliotekach działów oraz stanowisk mających za zadanie współpracować ze środkami masowego przekazu.

Slavnostní prezentace Průvodce po Rakouském státním archivu ve Vídni pro českého návštěvníka

Dne 10. června 2013 se konala na půdě Rakouského kulturního fóra v Praze slavnostní prezentace publikace, která vznikla jako výsledek grantového projektu Grantové agentury ČR, jehož nositelem byl v letech 2008–2010 Národní archiv. Prezentace knihy vydané pod názvem Průvodce po Rakouském státním archivu ve Vídni pro českého návštěvníka byla společnou akcí Národního archivu, Rakouského kulturního fóra v Praze a Scriptoria, spolku pro nekomerční vydávání odborné literatury, a konala se v rámci oslav Mezinárodního dne archivů 2013.

RDA a współpraca bibliotek w skali globalnej

The article describes the influence of the new rules of cataloguing Resource Description & Access (RDA) on the international cooperation of the library society within the range of shaping the bibliographic standards. The main goal is to present the role played by the European DRA Group in the process of integrating the European libraries around this key task for the future of librarianship. The author tried to prove that the aforementioned process of integration leads to the creation of a facility, playing the role of a representative of Europe in the global structures overseeing the works on the development of the cataloguing rules. In the summary, the author pointed out that an effective inclusion of Poland in these actions is dependent on achieving understanding on a national scale.

Wypożyczenia międzybiblioteczne w Polsce... w świetle badań ankietowych

Interlibrarian Borrowings (IB) is one of the basic services allowing readers access to specialist literature inaccessible locally. In order to examine the condition of the IB in Poland in July and August 2016 there was a pilot survey conducted among 128 libraries cooperating with the Pedagogical University Main Library throughout two academic years 2014/2015- 2015/2016. The survey consisted of 17 questions. The statistics available on the interaktywnie.com website, where the survey was located, noted 95 "unique views" of the form. The surveys were filled in by 50 respondents. As results from the responses, the most important problems of the IB in Poland are non-uniform regulations, different level of using modern technologies in the realization of interlibrary orders and lack of a national system of interlibrary borrowings. The attempt to create such a system based on the NUKAT catalogue has not yet been realized. The Academica, working since 2014, did not revolutionize the system in Poland due to its numerous limitations. The survey results indicate that there is a need for action leading to integrating the librarian society dealing with IB.

From 18th to 25th September 2011 Poland was for the second time the host of the 27th Congress of the International Association of Bibliophiles. 134 book lovers and collectors. from 22 countries took part in this event. Two greatest Polish libraries - the National Library (Warsaw) and the Jagiellonian Library (Cracow) were the joint hosts. Symposium Cracoviense was responsible for non-merits-related issues (accommodation, gastronomy, logistics, accompanying events). Annual bibliophiles meeting, each time organized by a different country, are filled with scientific sessions as well as sightseeing of the most important and the most valuable historical library collections and archives of the given country. During their stay in Poland, the participants visited - among other things - the Jagiellonian Library, the Wawel Castle, Monastery, the National Library and the University of Warsaw Library. Ślady Jana Mikulicza-Radeckiego we Wrocławiu ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem zbiorów Biblioteki Akademii Medycznej

Profesor Jan Mikulicz-Radecki doczekał się wielu publikacji traktujących o jego nieocenionym wkładzie w rozwój współczesnej chirurgii. Uczony urodził się 16 maja 1850 roku w Czerniowicach. Kwestia jego narodowości budziła wiele sporów. Sam profesor pytany o to odpowiadał, iż jest chirurgiem1 . Mikulicz-Radecki podjął studia medyczne wbrew woli ojca, który odmówił mu pomocy finansowej. Przyszły chirurg musiał sam zarabiać na swoje utrzymanie. Pierwszym etapem jego znakomitej kariery była nauka w II wiedeńskiej klinice chirurgicznej u cieszącego się wielkim uznaniem profesora Billrotha. W 1880 r. Mikulicz-Radecki ożenił się.The aim of this paper is to present the traces left by Professor Jan Mikulicz-Radecki in Wrocław, especially those found in the collection of the library of the Wrocław Medical University. The article contains a short biography of the renown surgeon and scientist, emphasizing the Krakow and Wrocław periods of his life. The author attempts to show Professor’s greatest achievements for the Krakow and Wrocław medicine. She presents his works collected by the library of the Wrocław Medical University, as well as works concerning the scientist. Further, traces of Mikulicz-Radecki’s activity in Wrocław are shown, with special attention being paid to the medical sphere, e.g. his traces in the Clinic of General Surgery in Maria Curie-Skłodowska street. A lot of attention is paid to the commemoration of the centennial anniversary of Mikulicz-Radecki’s death.

W listopadzie 2005 roku Instytut Informacji Naukowej i Bibliotekoznawstwa Akademii Pedagogicznej im. KEN. w Krakowie już po raz ósmy zorganizował konferencję z cyklu „Kraków – Lwów: książki, czasopisma, biblioteki XIX i XX wieku”. Tym razem w trzydniowym programie obrad znalazło się łącznie aż 80 referatów i komunikatów. Wygłosili je przedstawiciele różnych orientacji badawczych (m.in. bibliolodzy, literaturoznawcy i politolodzy) z polskich i ukraińskich ośrodków akademickich (Bydgoszczy, Drohobycza, Katowic, Kielc, Krakowa, Lublina, Lwowa, Łodzi, Opola, Rzeszowa, Torunia, Wrocławia, Zielonej Góry i innych). Warto odnotować, że wśród referentów byli także bibliotekarze i historycy reprezentujący Bibliotekę Narodową w Warszawie, Bibliotekę Śląską w Katowicach, Instytut Pamięci Narodowej w Krakowie, Muzeum Marii Konopnickiej w Żarnowcu oraz Płockie Towarzystwo Naukowe.

В.В. Тельвак (Дрогобич), В.П. Педич (Івано-Франківськ) VIII Міжнародна наукова конференція “Краків–Львів: книги, часописи, бібліотеки XIX та XX століття”

16–18 листопада 2005 р. в Кракові (Польща) проходила чергова VIII Міжнародна наукова конференція, присвячена дослідженню видавничого, літературного та бібліотечного процесу на галицьких землях ХІХ–ХХ ст. Вона традиційно відбувається з інтервалом у два роки, починаючи з 1986 р. Організатором форуму, як і в попередні рази, виступив Інститут наукової інформації й бібліотекознавства Краківської педагогічної академії імені Комісії національної освіти, котрим керує професор Ґ. Косентка. Роботу конференції відкрив ректор академії професор Ґ. Жалінський. Він привітав її учасників та підкреслив, що організований науковий форум, котрий має вже усталені традиції, попри свої конкретні завдання, відіграє також важливу роль щодо об’єднання дослідників різних країн, передусім поляків та українців, для спільного вивчення культури багатонаціональної Галичини XIX й XX ст..
