The Earthquake Impact on Tourism Industry: The Kos Case

Earthquakes, like other natural disasters, affect the development of the area, the environment, the economy, society and tourism. The objective of this study is to know the impact of earthquakes on tourism. Specifically, the impact of the 2017 earthquake that hit the island of Kos in Greece, affecting local tourism, is studied. The island of Kos is very touristy and the earthquake occurred in July at the height of the tourist season. The main source of income for citizens in this area is based on tourism. During this event, citizens, in their social network accounts, show their concern for the future of tourism in the area. The methodology used is based on the observation of the publications of local users on Twitter and articles in the digital and printed press that address this issue. Data mining from two different sources is performed to understand the general perspective of the media and the vision of citizens. The results show the concern of the natives towards the tourist impact and the attempt to protect and care for the tourists who are in the area during the earthquake.

This study aims to present, from a legal perspective, how different technologies and the use of artificial intelligence systems may affect the right to privacy or may change the way an individual chooses to perform certain tasks. The research focuses on the legal framework of the right to privacy, proposals, new regulations and legislative changes that apply to the use of artificial intelligence systems globally.Secondly, it proposes to analyze the possibility that the AI impact assessment on the right to privacy, the guarantees provided and a well-defined legal framework can reduce the negative effects of the use of artificial intelligence systems.Can technology, mass digitization and the functioning of artificial intelligence lead to violations of rights and freedoms, especially the right to privacy? On 21st of April 2021, the European Union published a proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down harmonized rules on artificial intelligence and amending certain Union legislation (Artificial Intelligence Regulation) ensure that artificial intelligence systems placed on the EU market are secure and comply with existing legislation on fundamental rights and security requirements for artificial intelligence systems.

Excurs în politicile de securitate pe linia prevenirii terorismului în mediul online

Considering a legal analysis of the national and European provisions on the security policies that states apply to the prevention of online terrorism, it can be concluded that terrorism continues to pose major potential threats to national security. At the national and community level, there has been a systematic concern about identifying and regulating appropriate measures to manage the manifestations of terrorist organizations in the online environment. We point out that, since the 2000s, most terrorist entities have been and are present in the online environment in various forms of manifestation and promotion of their action objectives, and the internet and social networks are for them an easy and ideal platform for propaganda clandestine actions. The purpose of this propaganda is: (1) to expose ideas, concepts and attitudes that define the terrorist ideology, the justification of the cause and the popularization/promotion of the terrorist organization; (2) to recruit new followers and radicalize them along the lines of the terrorist entity; (3) to raise financial funds; (4) to mobilize followers to commit acts of terrorism. The main national and European regulations on the prevention of online terrorism are Law no. 535/2004 on preventing and combating terrorism, Directive (EU) 2017/541 of the European Parliament and of the Council of Europe of 15 March 2017 on combating terrorism and replacing Council Framework Decision 2002/475/JHA and amending Decision 2005/671/JHA of the Council and Regulations (EU) 2021/784 of the European Parliament and the Council of 29 April 2021 on the prevention of the dissemination of online terrorist content. Directive 541/2017 and in its application the Law 535/2004 lays down the online removal of terrorist content which constitutes a public incitement to commit a terrorist offense, and where this is not feasible, mechanisms with effective means of combating terrorism on the internet may be put in place to block access to such terrorist content on the territory of the Union. Also, according to Regulation 2021/782, the presence of online terrorist content has proven to be crucial in promoting the radicalization of people and can lead to and cause/instigate the commission of terrorist acts and therefore has serious negative consequences that are difficult to be quantified by users, citizens, and society in general, as well as by online service providers that host such content, as it undermines user confidence and harms their business models.

The European Problem Regarding the Acceptance, Integration and Prevention of Crime Towards Migrants and Refugees

The Migration in a global perspective is contemporary of the Human life, with the most different motivations, in each time and place, within the specific legal frame- works depending on the State law and the International Law. Consequently, in the human global mobility there are different positions and possibilities to these human beings by political, social, economic, and cultural powers. The continuous research is an academic and scientific need, being focus on the global migration and refugees, considering the international legal meaning. There are Regions and States where the Migrants and Refugees are welcome, accepted, and integrated, not only by the legal point of view but the governs behaviors, public policies, social reception, economic and financial support/investment, but in contrast, there are completely opposite positions generating serious problems since the denial to the abandon of millions of human beings. Since the Arab Spring, the reality for millions of Refugees is dramatic by the violation of the Human Rights, the International Law, and States Fundamental Rights. The Public Opinion is vulnerable to the manipulated information in different States, so it has provoked the discrimination, rejection, and violence against Migrants and Refugees. However, it ́s basic to understand the serious context as there are international movements, involving International organized crime acting with Migrants and Refugees – human trafficking, smuggling, exploitations, violence, and all kind of violations. The International Security – legal, protection and criminal (re)action, police authorities – between States and International Organizations have developed different reactions. This is a serious and difficult problem needing a permanent effective work of all structures to protect millions of Human beings. The European Union, working together the international community, as well as with the most different movements – public and/or private – need to develop a concerted and strategic work receiving and integrating the Refugees, which measures must cover and protect all in Europe, regardless their origin.

Comments on Current Regulatory Diversity under Public International Law

The crises generated by the Covid-19 pandemic have become a major problem in front of which the states have started to reflect their interests as well as possible. Developments in this area are aimed at deepening bilateral and multilateral cooperation in various areas affected by global crises. The dynamics of international relations were mainly due to the adaptation of regulations to changes in interdependent relations between states and the diversification of their concerns, including for contemporary challenges such as those given by pandemics. Instruments specific to public international law are brought into the spotlight in cases such as pandemic prevention, preparedness and response or in areas such as artificial intelligence or financial technologies. In the face of these challenges, public international law manifests its regulatory function. However, not all states react at the same rate. It is difficult to predict how and if this goal will be achieved, so we will follow the significant developments in the near future. To make this article we used a fundamental research method (directed for the purpose of knowledge) on the part of research that identifies relevant issues, with prospective ramifications and identification of features that promote the coherence of hypotheses. The notions we referred to will be exposed by using the most efficient methods, such as exploratory, descriptive but also explanatory.

The traditional taboos of mankind are the taboos of the sacred and of the impure. The issues of language impoliteness, verbal aggression and taboo violence have only recently come under a more intensive scientific scrutiny. The paper offers some possibilities for successfully avoiding of taboo words, wherefore it can also be a contribution for a better understanding of taboos in our own, as well as in other cultures and languages. However, the existence of differences between the languages was not sufficient to predict target-deviant behaviour. The question whether language dominance determines cross-linguistic influence has been discussed controversially in studies on simultaneously bilingual students. Flouting taboos entails direct or indirect, social or cultural sanctions.

The article examines the sometimes confusing use of the terms competence and skills in the Moldovan language education context. Teachers of English as a foreign language seem to closely follow the guidelines of the national curriculum, which does not seem to facilitate the teachers’ work in their design process. The fact that the term competence is opposed to that of skill in TEFL literature seems to be ignored by the authors of the curriculum. Thus, teachers feel forced to use the exact terminology from the curriculum, even if it can cause confusion.

АНГЛИЙСКИЕ ПОСЛОВИЦЫ И ПОГОВОРКИ О ПРИНЦИПАХ ОБУЧЕНИЯ

The article deals with the application of English proverbs and sayings for effective teaching of English Methodology. The author suggests applying them for mastering the principles of teaching in general as well as teaching English language in particular since proverbs describe the millennium-long experience of people, reflect valuable pedagogical ideas. The main focus of the author is to consider a large number of English and Ukrainian proverbs, to select the ones that concern pedagogical approaches to teaching, and to group them according to the principle mentioned. The examples also include some Ukrainian and Russian proverbs as well as English quotation when it is appropriate. Following the classification of principles developed by A.N. Shchukin, one to twelve examples are selected to exemplify each principle. The principles of teaching are of four groups: didactic (10 principles), psychological (4 principles), methodological (5 principles) and linguistic ones (3 principles). In the course of the study we came to the following conclusions: there is a large number of proverbs on pedagogical and methodological principles, the use of proverbs leads to the development of abstract and associative thinking of would-be teachers. The author claims that proverbs should be widely used in lecturing and suggests a range of tasks for students: using a proverbs give some advice to a pupil, pupil’s parents or a colleague, explain a proverb, share your school experience using a proverb, express you agreement or disagreement with a proverb, choose a proverb with a different meaning, find Ukrainian or Russian equivalents for an English proverb, discuss the relevancy of a proverb to modern conditions, match a proverb to a principal it describes.

USING LITERATURE CIRCLES TO ENHANCE GROUP DISCUSSIONS IN THE CLASSROOM

The following article examines two important components to aid students develop their English language oral skills and to enhance their understanding of literature and thinking skills. The first component is the use of the Question and Answer Relationship Format to help teachers elicit appropriate questioning and use strategies to understand literature and nonfictional text in a deeper fashion. The second component is the use of Literature Circles. This strategy, widely used in the United States, allows students to read fictional texts and discuss in depth all the components of a literary piece. Consequently, this technique also triggers students’ oral skills while in the classroom. Such a method is ideal for English Language Learners from an intermediate to an advanced and near proficient levels in any educational context. Thus, the authors also share insights from their own classroom experience while using the aforementioned techniques.

INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION AND CULTURAL IDENTITY AT EFL LESSONS

The article describes the relationship between language and culture as well as the ways of discussing about cultural identity and cultural diversity at EFL classes to university students. The author offers an analysis of researchers' views of the interaction between culture and language and suggests some practical ideas for intercultural dialogue at EFL classes. The author of the article highlights the idea that knowing the language gives an appearance of understanding people of different cultures but does not give a sufficient knowledge about the foreign culture. Taking into account that verbal as well as nonverbal communication involves much more than transmitting a particular message and it reflects everyone's identifications, keeping their cultural values, the author of the article suggests several practical ideas for EFL classroom to provide a real interaction between cultures through comparison of different cultural values.

The Benefit of the Patient in the Hippocratic Oath and the Golden Rule of Christian Ethics

Modern medical science aims at the benefit of the patient which is achieved through the treatment of the patient. The physician must act in the best interest of the patient and consequently his health. In an ideal world every doctor besides treating a patient would also love him. In this text, there will be examined two fundamental ethical imperatives that can be applied in the doctor – patient relationship. On the one hand the position, do not do unto others as you would not like to do unto you, on the other hand the positive formulation of that sentence which is, do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. The first of those two positions can be found in the ancient oath of Hippocrates, whereas the second position is the basis of the Golden Rule of Christian ethics. These two ethical imperatives will be examined in the context of modern bioethics as well, since the benefit of the patient is the major concern of two of its basic principles, namely the principle of beneficence and that of non-maleficence. The oath of Hippocrates moves in the realm of the moral idea that you should not do to others what you do not want to be done to yourself. The above position is based on the affirmative propositions that are imprinted within the oath. On the other hand, the Golden Rule of Christian ethics consists of a positive exhortation, to do to the other what you would like to happen to you. Each Christian is called to love his fellowman as he loves himself, since the supreme good in Christian morality is the love of God and fellowman that fulfills the purpose of man’s existence, which is the communion with God. Both positions examined in the text have relevant content, aiming at the benefit of the patient, the patients good, either by a direct positive obligation, or by preventing the doctor from harming the patient.

Global technological advances continue to bring about major changes. The present study aims to address important aspects for the application of Education 4.0 for the fourth industrial revolution, immediately following the COVID-19 pandemic. The research work focuses in particular on modern technologies for education and training, responding to the challenges and opportunities of business in the conditions of Industry 4.0. Research methods and techniques based on desk research and data from secondary sources, including strategic document analysis and content analysis, were used. The findings indicate that investments in the development of environmental infrastructure and human, technical and financial capacity must be strengthened to reach an adequate participation of Education 4.0 in the post-Covid Industry 4.0.

O VIZIUNE ASUPRA REPOZITORIULUI INSTITUŢIONAL ORA USARB ŞI BIBLIOTECA DIGITALĂ

This paper presents the conclusions of the study on the impact of ORA USARB Institutional Repository and the Digital Library at Alecu Russo Balti State University. The study was conducted on the basis of the Questionnaire which contained eleven questions as a method of collecting research data and analyzed through Google Docs. The respondents represented 4 faculties:Faculty of Philology, Faculty of Exact, Economic and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Educational Sciences, Psychology and Arts, Faculty of Law and Social Sciences.The study revealed the satisfactory use of USARB's own open resource resources: Open Recearsh Archive (ORA USARB) and the Digital Library by the university community and beyond, the integration and recognition of the Institutional Repository in the global information structure. Also note worthy are the efforts of the USARB Scientific Library Virtualization Services Group and the Center for Cultural Events to promote information seminars, Information Literacy courses, educational events to demonstrate the advantage and increase open access.

Comprehensive and strategic measures are needed to reduce social exclusion and marginalisation. Mainstreaming and promoting social entrepreneurship is important for the development of an inclusive economy. The social impact is configured by investing the revenues generated in supporting vulnerable groups on the 'margins' of socio-economic processes to engage in economic activity and create opportunities for professional and social integration. Long-term value added from economic activities leads to cost reduction and the reduction of the effects of inequalities and poverty.

In order to demonstrate how circular economy could contribute to the energy security in Bulgaria, it is important to analyse and explain the model of the circular economy itself. It is also of utmost importance to investigate how this model is planned to be applied in Bulgaria and what are and would be in future its benefits for the energy field. Considered that this is a new economic model, different from the linear economy, which is still diffused all over the world, a definition of circular economy will be offered in the present article. Also, the term energy security and its definition on global and national level will be analysed in details. Once the scientific terms are explained, the interdependency between these concepts will be outlined and analysed with the purpose of demonstrating the positive contribution that circular economy could have for ensuring the energy security in Bulgaria.
